It is noteworthy that the Democrats didn't even charge Trump with a "quid pro quo" nor ever even mentioned it in their articles of impeachment. It was a stupid idea to begin with because virtually every dealing between two countries involves some level of "quid pro quo." In fact just about every single person deals with a "quid pro quo" on a daily basis when interacting with other people. Democrats just liked the sound of the Latin phrase because it sounded vaguely sinister.

It's funny how they throw the word "impeachment" around, too, when all it means is a charge or an accusation. They think it's this big bad thing that happens! I guess it's all they've got, so they make mountains out of these little things.

As I heard it, he was not cooperative (as in obstructive; sound familiar?) so there was no desire on the part of the prosecution to be lenient on him. Leniency is a consideration that can be removed if prosecutors feel that the accused does not deserve it.

What Trump was doing in Ukraine was quid pro quo (similar to bribery; sound familiar?), whether you want to believe it or not. Blagojevich was doing quid pro quo in selling off Obama's Senate seat.

So what we have is the hypocrite POTUS claiming to fight corruption while in the same breath pardoning a guy who did the same thing as Trump. So of course Trump wants that (bribery; obstruction) to be normalized.

Where did you "hear it"?? CNN? MSNBC? I have relatives in Canada and it's amazing what they do not "hear" on the news. When I ask them if they knew things that Trump is accomplishing here in the US that the MSM doesn't want publicized, they didn't have a clue.

That you say "What Trump was doing in Ukraine was quid pro quo (similar to bribery; sound familiar?)" does not make it the truth. It was never proved by anyone that quid pro quo occurred when Trump called Zelensky. Zelensky himself said they never talked about money of any kind on the call. And Trump released his transcripts of that phone call the day after Nancy Pelosi announced that she was going to go ahead with impeachment and nowhere in those transcripts is money mentioned of any kind. That phone call was so transparent as to Trump's intentions (to congratulate the new president of Ukraine on his win) that Adam Schiff could not use the actual words that Trump used on his phone call. Schiff had to make up what he later called "a parody" of the phone call that was a complete fabrication of the actual phone call.

By the way, did you know that none of any presidents' calls to foreign diplomats and leaders are ever recorded electronically. There is a team of people who listen in on the calls and take notes and record verbatim what was said on the phone calls. That team meets after the phone calls and put together the transcript of the calls. So if the transcripts of Trump's call to Zelensky are fake or made up lies, then that whole team of people would be responsible for the lies. I doubt that many people would ALL be complicit in the lie. Here is a list of accomplishments that Trump has completed....

And here is a verbatim account of Schiff's made up "parody" of Trump's phone call that he gave to the House of Representatives when they opened the hearings into impeachment:

First of all he is not MY Governor. And Republican vs Democrat should have no relevance when it comes to the law. (Nor should being POTUS, for that matter.) As I heard the argument, Rod tried hard to fight back, and that tends to make prosecutors throw the book at the accused, and that is why the long sentence.

The other point is to question why Trump chose to pardon the people he did, when there are thousands in jail who should probably also be considered for pardons. The reason is Blagohevich's "crimes" are exactly what Trump was doing with Ukraine, and Trump needed to "normalize" such activity and take it off the "corruption" list.

Oh, my bad....he was "A" Governor. Of course he tried to fight back. That prosecutors threw the book at him (does that mean that they didn't like what he did in their opinion??) should not be part of any decision in a court of law to decide how long a sentence should be?

Trump, like Obama and every other President, has the power to commute, and pardon whoever they want. And you obviously, and to our humble citizens of OnePoliticalPlaza forum, are extremely thankful that you have such inside information as to what Trump was doing with Ukraine and how he needed to "normalize" "such activity"(what does 'such activity' mean?) to take it (what does "it" mean?) off the "corruption" list.

What is the "corruption" list???

Why would anyone -- Democrat or Republican -- applaud a scumbag like Blagojevich being pardoned? The only reason Trump did this is to make his own corrupt behaviours -- which parallel those of Blagojevich -- look normal/acceptable. Trump is again lowering the bar on presidential normalcy and acceptability.

So Blagojevich, your Democrat Governor, should have stayed in jail? Huh. At least you acknowledge that much...but lying to the FBI should be applied equally to all. How many can you think of who should also be in jail for 14 years for that same reason - both Democrat and Republican??? THAT is why Trump commuted his sentence...

There are plenty of charts/data to show the steady "progress trends" in unemployment, GDP, Dow Jones, etc, from 2010 onwards. The data show NO SIGNIFICANT bumps or changes in slope of the trends. Everything is humming along smoothly.

As has been said many times, Trump can claim credit for the numbers today being the lowest/highest ever (depending on the indicator being measured), but that is exactly what one would expect from a smooth progression of a trend... AS LONG AS NO ONE DOES SOMETHING STUPID TO UPSET THE APPLE CART!!! To Trump's credit he has NOT YET done anything that would cause the economy to go sour. But there is still time... especially if he gets re-elected.

But despite the data that have been presented ad nauseam now, Trumpeters still think that Obama's economy was crap and that Trump turned it around. Trump did no such thing. The truth is out there if one has their eyes open.

Note "Seasonally Adjusted"

It's winter in the north of America.

Not Global cooling. Not Global warming.

The snowfall is beautiful...and it melts within a day or so...maybe a week. And then another beautiful snow storm falls around us and we all greet each other and invite us collectively into the nearest kitchen for coffee and warm chocolate with marshmallows. Then go back out and deal with the snow. Not anything cooling or warming about this.....been doing it for my past 50 years....and it still makes us feel good to get together and deal with the snow.

Sometimes there are 3 or 5 or even 7 feet of snow here, and other years there are just dustings of snow. The Great Lakes froze completely for the first time in recorded history four years ago. The following year not one of them even showed any surface ice.

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump took a President's Day swipe at his predecessor, Barack Obama, as each sought credit Monday for the U.S. economy.

Mocking an earlier Obama tweet as a "con job," Trump blasted Obama for "now trying to take credit for the economic boom taking place under the Trump administration."

The strong robust U.S. economy – including the low 3.6% unemployment – is a central talking point for Trump on the campaign trail. Obama appeared to take a subtle dig with a tweet earlier Monday marking the 11th anniversary of the 2009 economic stimulus.

"Eleven years ago today, near the bottom of the worst recession in generations, I signed the Recovery Act, paving the way for more than a decade of economic growth and the longest streak of job creation in American history," Obama posted on Twitter.

Throughout the day, Democrats responded by praising Obama's tweet and arguing that Trump is reaping the benefits of the work his predecessor did. Republicans accused Obama of seeking credit for Trump's policies, an argument Trump echoed later.

"He had the WEAKEST recovery since the Great Depression, despite Zero Fed Rate & MASSIVE quantitative easing. NOW, best jobs numbers," Trump posted of Obama.

Trump has argued that his emphasis on reducing regulations and the 2017 tax bill has spurred economic growth.

Democrats noted that unemployment and stock prices began increasing under the Obama years as they bounced back from the Great Recession, a trend that continued into Trump's presidency. Trump loyalists pointed out that the unemployment rate is at its lowest point in decades while the stock market has been hitting record highs.

Never seen an AF1 flyover. Would’ve been impressive if Obama did it too. I’ve only seen Marine One a few times and that was impressive.

No, I've never seen one. I can imagine the feeling! I did see an AF1 "decoy" plane parked at a my son's Air Force base in Texas. He said there are decoys both on the ground and in the air around the clock.

What story? There's no "story" here. Just watch the video of the motorcade and you'll see what I mean. The woman was recording it live at the race and while she was, she said "there's no booing Trump". Try not to make things up about what other people are saying. It says more about you than the person you are criticizing.
