I have trouble figuring out what white balance to use

I forgot to mention that. Go to a manual setting for your white balance and set it for somewhere between 3400 to 3700k. I usually use 3700k, but then tweak it in Adobe Camera Raw (ACR).

I use a D610 with a 14 to 24mm set at 14mm. The time varies slightly, but my best results are 25 to 30 seconds with ISO's of 2500 or 3200

This picture was taken in far northeast corner of California. 14mm, 3200 ISO, 30 seconds, about an hour after sunset.

Yep, I'll watch the whole movie just to see the part at the end when he told that bounty hunter "Dying ain't much of a living boy"

Isn't it amazing that you can get anything you want out of these "Holy Books"? Just quote what fits your belief and ignore what doesn't.
That's why I like science. No matter how often you do it, when you close down the aperture, the picture gets darker. When you slow down the shutter speed, the picture gets lighter.
When you hold a glass marble directly over your foot vertically, and let go, it will fall on your foot. No lack of clarity there.

Yes Djedi, as a Christian, I hear the same things from non-believers, no need for God, we have science. Any and all things we believe are all a matter of faith. But I disagree, we look at the world through the same microscope or telescope, look at the same evidence, and just come to a different conclusion.

When a non-believer looks at the universe, and sees that the science proves beyond any reasonable doubt that the universe had a beginning, they have no answer except to believe that the universe sprang out of nothing. Nothing plus nobody equals everything we see. A Christian says this is not possible, there has to be something before. We know that whoever or whatever caused the universe to come into being is spaceless (existing outside of space), timeless (before time), powerful, and immensely intelligent. Christians call this being God

A non-believer cannot point at any of the atrocities that are committed in this world and say that's immoral because if there is no God, nothing is really immoral, it's all just a matter of opinion. What you say is immoral someone else may it not. As Christians, we can point to what is immoral because the ultimate standard for morality IS God

A non-believer cannot explain the origin of life, how life can come from non-life. And they can't point back to evolution because they never answered the first question, how the universe came into existence. Christians believe that it was God who created all life.

A non-believer cannot even believe his or her own thoughts, if there is no God, then we are just molecules in motion, really smart apes that are just dancing to our DNA. Maybe it's in my DNA to believe in God and in someone else's it is not.

All of this is not a matter of faith, it is a matter of fact. But to believe that the universe came from nothing, that life just happened by accident, and to believe that I am just a really smart ape... that takes more faith and I just don't have enough faith to be an atheist
Much more could be said about this Djedi. If you are interested, I can be reached at deeceephoto@gmail.com

And how is he doing good?
Hopefully not just by pushing religion.

Well he has a Bible in his arms, I'd say that he is out spreading the good news of the Gospel. That God loves us, and that even though we have all sinned, He has offered a way for us to be forgiven through the life, death, and resurrection of His Son Jesus. So that we can live day to day knowing that we have been forgiven, that we can have a peace in our life that only God can offer. And that even though we live in a broken world because of our own sins (some parts more broken than others), that this life is just the beginning, a much better one awaits those who have put their trust and faith in Jesus.

If he is doing this, the work that God has entrusted us to do while on this earth, then I'd say he doing a LOT of good.

It's not a religion, it's a relationship....

You can go to the Utah website (https://utah.com/) and get all kind of good information. Fill in the info on this link and they will send you some very nice books and maps on places to see. I did, what they sent was pretty impressive...

The flash lighting is pretty harsh, needs a diffuser. I have used this one for years, best diffuser ever. If you have low ceilings, you can bounce the flash off of them also to help diffuse the light.

Yep, we have a problem with pigeons in our corporation yard, so we hired a company to set up a bird trap. I asked them "What do you do with the pigeons once you caught them? You can't just let them go, they'll just come back" He said that they donate them to a local hunting club to be used as live skeet.

OUCH!

We've focused mainly on restaurant tips. Here is a question: Anyone living in NJ or Oregon (I think they are the only other state that requires attendants to pump gas) do you tip the attendant? I don't as a protest to the whole idea that I need someone to stick a hose into my gas tank and pump gas. Now in the old days an attendant would raise the hood, check your oil and clean your front and back windshields. If they still did that I wouldn't mind tipping them, but for just pumping gas, No!

Some people do, some people don't. The way I look at it is the same with waiters, they are usually making minimum wage so I'm sure they would appreciate the extra

But according to this article, there is no hard or fast rule on it

Yep, I will usually tip between 10 to 15%, depending on how good the service was. I mean, that's what the tip is, an extra based on the service right? What I hate is when these eating establishments demand 18% for parties of six or more. I was in a restaurant in San Fran last year, had a snobby and rude waiter, but what did he care, he was getting 18% no matter how good or bad the service was.

Forget the books. I tried to learn Photoshop for years with the books and it just didn't work. But then I found the website Lynda.com and starting watching the videos. Within about three months I learned just about all I needed to know about Photoshop
