Understood. Maybe you can try the setup with another model.

I'll bet there are a few in the Philipines that would jump at the chance.

This is the original modified photo that I took "Up Close" from. Again, not trying for the normal T&A shot, but one that hides the flaws & brings forth the attributes.

Well, you certainly succeeded this time. The first thing that caught my eye was that fantastic landscape poster. To me all else pales in the shot.

Down the road a bit from the Galvez there is or was a WWII gun emplacement bunker. Another
photo op if it's still there.

Hope to get great pics in Galveston. Brazoria Nat'l Wildlife Refuge is on my list. Need Hog's suggestions for other good places. Interested in landscapes as well. I may not get back there anytime soon. Thanks in advance for your help.

Stay in Winnie, Texas. Easy access from there to High Island and Boliver Peninsula. Lots of photo ops there. Take the ferry over to Galveston, get on Seawall Blvd. and just keep going. Several landscapes opportunities before and after crossing the $2.00 toll bridge. In Galveston, the Pleasure Pier is interesting. To avoid a fee, do not park along Seawall Blvd. Use the side streets. Seawolf Park has a WWII submarine and destroyer you can tour. Restaurants are kinda expensive, IMO.

If you have time, Beaumont, Port Arthur and the Sabine Pass areas are certainly worth seeing, as is Sea Rim State Park.

That is appreciated (Nikon owner).

Question. Do you presume Canon is immune to the changes in the camera market that have precipitated this strategy change for Nikon?

Absolutely not. Canon, like other camera manufacturers could experience Nikon's situation. All it takes is a series of bad management decisions to put
a company, any company, in trouble. i just hope that Canon and the others won't ever have to go through what Nikon is having to go through now.

These birds love Banksia blossoms, which is evident in these pics. Downloading is recommended.

I'm having a hard time deciding which is prettier, the bird or the blossom. Great shots never the less!

The bar manager was a friend of mine, & encouraged me to try a few shots. He had one of the girls dance on our table, so instead of the same old shots, I tried something different. I took an extremely low angle & shot upwards. After taking the shot, I looked at it, the manager looked at it, & another friend looked at it. None of us could figure it out, which in itself made it interesting! It took awhile but we finally I.D.'d the pieces & parts.
To help you out, she was wearing a bikini w/cutoffs. You can see both breasts, arms & thighs.
Nothing sneaky about it; not with a NIKON D700 with a zoom lens. The subject found it interesting & even posed for more (normal) shots.
So if you're not into puzzles, this isn't for you.
The bar manager was a friend of mine, & encour... (show quote)

Initially you said, "This is a play of color and shape, so go from that point." Now you say, "If you're not into puzzles, this isn't for you." When I look at your photo just what is it that I'm suppose to look for, color and shape or puzzles?

As an aside, you had your NIKON D700 and zoom lens with you when you went into the bar. So, did the bar manager REALLY have to encourage you to try a few shots or was that your real motive for going there in the first place? Just curious.

I keep thinking back to the comics (Top Banana, Second Banana) who performed between the tease acts. These guys were FUNNY! Almost worth the price of admission alone.

The entire Rio Grande Valley is a birder's paradise. Seascapes are your best bet anywhere on Padre Island. Landscapes, not so sure. The locals can steer you in the right direction for great restaurants.

Really like your pics. Brings back memories of when I lived in Houston. I would drive down to Kemah and buy shrimp, fresh off the boat. With the heads on I paid a little less than $2.00 a pound. This was back in the late 70s - early 80s so I 'spect the price has changed quite a bit...Kemah too probably.
