[quote=jerryc41]How's this for a crazy idea? A guy on YouTube has a video in which he explains why we shouldn't have time zones. Instead, the whole world should use UTC/Zulu/Greenwich time. Theoretically, it makes sense - except for the rotation of the earth - and darkness. He said that instead of going to work from 9:00 - 5:00, New Yorkers would work from 2:00 - 10:00 PM. Yeah, that's going to work. [:quote:]

I recall reading that that is how China does it. One time zone. No problems scheduling meetings (telephone-conferences) between locations anywhere in the country.

I remember having to schedule a phone conference call from our US subsidiary with the UK home office. And on the same day with a supplier in Japan. Made for a very long day.

Uhh...what time is it? Uhh...What day is it? Did I know that the clock went back an hour last night? What clock?

Is this still October?

I sometimes think about how I would do on some of the mental acuity questions doctors ask.

With the decrease in old wooden barns across the country, some wildlife folks have constructed and maintained Barn Owl houses on hunting towers. I had to take the photo as a snapshot from my remote Vixia video camera, so it is not the quality expected from the UHH Photo Gallery. Just pleased this owlet is one of four fledged this autumn.

Great shot. Right place at the perfect moment!

Thanks but that's not it ... that button activates the focusing like pushing the shutter halfway ....

I expect you’ve already tried a battery out reset and a restore factory settings menu item (which I assume is there someplace).

Have you looked into the available battery adapters? There’s a superior Milwaukee cordless nail gun, which it seems I can run with my Dewalt batteries.

FWIW I seem to remember a lot of these being Victorian inventions, sort of a parlour game of behavioural onomatopoeia.

I posted a few days ago that I canceled a candy order from Amazon because it was going to cost $90 to ship a $15 bag of candy to me. Well, I'm glad to see that they have lowered the shipping cost.

Ran into this, too. For an item I had previously purchased. I suspect I was supposed to NOT notice that while the item was the same price, $12.00, the shipping was $$90.00 (suddenly not eligible for Prime). Had I been inattentive … . I would bet that the item would have shipped within seconds and the order would have been uncancellable.

And the item was still also available at the same price with free Prime shipping.

There is no choice, look at the numbers for the previous “conservative “ 4 years. Ceiling raised while returning income to those who had the most. Would be nice to have a real Conservative party with principled representatives who worked for what was best for the country. I miss the party of Romney and McCain.

The outmoded machine still attracts the attention and produces interest. How did it work, and to what use?

Basically a mobile power plant. Often powered a drive wheel to attach with a belt to some equipment. Check out vintage machinery on YouTube for a restored example.

Beautiful shots. I wonder what keeps that stone in place over the opening, looks precarious.

It is beautiful. And you ask a very good question. Wonder if there has been restoration/ preservation - or if the original mortar had some sort of adhesive property.

So reading this thread, what it comes down to is it’s probably just easier to put it in the camera to check. I have a system. I have a battery pouch with sleeves for each battery. When I charge a battery I put it in the sleeve terminals down. When I swap for a new battery I put the discharged battery in the sleeve terminals up. When I get home I know which batteries need to go on the charger.

More or less ditto. Carry multiple batteries, rotate them as they run down, and always fully recharge. If I put in a battery and it does not show a full charge - it gets another chance before I think about replacing it. If it “runs down” too quickly (whatever that means) it gets another chance and this time I pay closer attention (a bit of blue tape on the butt end helps identify it). BTW I’ve only had to replace 1 Canon battery in … (more than a decade?).

So because people have died in other ways that means we should do nothing to fight Covid? That is completely irrational!
