I've been on Medicare for a number of years. It operates similar to how a single payer plan would. I have observed no restrictions on the doctors or hospitals available to me. My doctor told me he prefers Medicare over insurance coverage because it is less of a hassle getting paid.

Insurance costs are bankrupting a lot of working people. Others simply cannot afford healthcare insurance. Single payer would eliminate parasitic healthcare insurance entirely. Taxpayers would be able to pay more in income taxes to cover the cost of single payer and still come out ahead.

My company provides services for one of the biggest healthcare providers in MA. They have been laying off people at a high rate to stay in busuness because the system in place, aka Romneycare or the model for Obummercare, is imploding on itself. No one is able to keep up with the cost of maintaining it let alone the cost of providing the services.

My doctors will not accept Obummercare at a reimbursement rate of 30%, and they are dropping Medicare as they are being paid 40% of the cost which is also dropping.

As for me personally, I only want disability insurance in case I something happens that I am no longer able to work. In the mean time I prefer to pay the doctor direct than to pay an insurance company a premium monthly and have to pay the doctor directly too until I hit the $5000 deductible.

If you register them with your local authorities, they will be happy to take them from you and save you the problem of getting rid of them.

BigBear.......I disagree completely! Health care IS a right. The well off , should not be the oly ones who can access quality care. Every other industrialized country, and many others provide universal health care. Your position is morally bankrupt!!

Show me where it is in the Bill of Rights !!
There is always something that you can't afford and therefore do not get.
Healthcare is available for everyone anyway. Nobody is turned away from emergency care if it is needed. That has always been the law.

PNagy........I usually avoid this BS. But you are 100% right. You hit the nail on the head . Ignore these totally ignorant replies. By the way, my wife and I worked VERY hard all our lives, and never took a dime from anybody. Now , comfortably retired. We believe ,we are in this all together, and must help the neediest among us. Universal health care etc. . Your list of facts are right on.

I have no problem with helping the needy. People are more than welcome to help out. It is not a federal government issue. And neither is healthcare as it is not a right nor is it mandatory for people to have. If the system isn't working right, it's up to the people to fix it.
The government has stepped so far over it's boundaries it needs to be beat back in place.

It took me about as much time as it takes for my letters to hit the computer keys.

No time for thought as I suspected.
A great attorney once told me 'never ask a question that you don't already know the answer to.'

Nagy: 20. If the free market governs itself, why did it allow the major finance institutions to become “too big to fail,” thus obligating everyone to bail it out?

Blurryeyed: A. Again you show your ignorance, there is no such thing as free markets in our banking industry, it is a prime example of fascism in our economy, as it is an alliance of the Fed, Treasury, and America's largest banking interests colluding to run and control our economy and society while all three driving mutual benefit from the relationship! They excluded the free market from the banking industry back in 1913 when a progressive president allowed the largest banking interests in the country to write the legislation which brought the Fed into existence... give me a break Nagy!

Nagy: Blurry, you are such a jerk you even manage to insult me when we agree. In your foaming at the mouth rage you failed to understand the facetious nature of my statement. Let me spell it out to you; I also deny the existence of a free market for the same reasons you outlined. Now go ahead and issue some pompous statements about what I don't understand. It will make you feel better.[/quote]

The banking industry is regulated by the government for what they can't do and by what they must do. Another place it does not belong.

Nagy: 19. If people on welfare are frauds, why are a majority of them working?

Blurryeyed: A. Are you denying welfare fraud and the government's apparent lack of concern?

Nagy: A degree of fraud exists in nearly everything. A majority who receive personal relief are not frauds. On the other hand, 100% of corporate welfare is fraud and amounts to far more than personal welfare.

'Personal relief' is not the responsibility of the federal government !!
