I have more questions than answers.

Why load the nix SFTW?
Does it do something LR want? Or you need?

On the tiff:
are you sure of file extension?
Will MS SFTW paint open the tiff file?
Can it make changes?
Can you save the changes?
When you downloaded to USB, did it encrypt?

NIX augments LR and is an add on. I want to use the black and white conversion. you can find a link on LR's website. why the error message I don't know, can not get it to work???

not encodeing to the USB. the tiff transfers into PS3 and then saves either back to my USB or to the hardrive.

I just can not figure out whay PS3 won't save as a jpg, there is something I am missing about this. would take a PS used to answer, most likely it is an easy one.

I quit shooting jpg and only use raw. it is so much easier to just deal with raw and then export those I want from LR. I'd guess you are not going to e-mail a jpg file that wansn't PP anyway, unless it was perfect, so why bother with the in camera jpg?

I am using LR4 and installed NIX Silver Efex Pro 2 however when I try and use it (photo/edit in/silver efex pro) I get an error message "bad arguement #1 to "lower" string expected got nil" (this is a demo version I downloaded fron NIX website)

Tried installing it again but still no luck. What do I need to fix to make this work?

Next question. I modified a photo (in old computer) as a .tiff saved from LR4 (usb key) first problem; PS3 won't save it as a .jpg, not sure why and second issue; I want to work on it in LR however LR says the photo exhists and won't let me work on it? why? What do I change to allow that to happen?

The latest version of LR3 is 3.6, I downloaded it but it still won't open my G12 RAW files. Downloaded LR4 and it will. Guess I'll give them more money...

I will download it from Adobe. Where do I put the downloaded file to install it into LR3? Do I just copy it into LR3 in a directory? I found instructions for PS but not LR.

The download is platform specific. If you have a Mac, run the downloaded file (DMG.) If you have Windows, I guess the downloaded file is either an EXE or a ZIP. You should be able to run it from anywhere (desktop, download folder)

I could no get it to work???...

Is there an ACR upgrade for LR3 somewhere I haven't found?

I have ACR 6.6 on LR3 and it works fine. I found I have ACR 5.7 on CS4 so I get a warning if I edit in Photoshop (an image that's already in LR.) I just selected the "Render Using Lightroom" and it seems to work fine. I wasn't aware of this because I don't always use PS - haven't for a couple of weeks.

This is for 4.6.2 - there is a list of new (at the time of release) cameras supported. It is supposed to work with CS3.

http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3822

If that doesn't do it, you should be able to convert raw to TIFF with the software that came with the camera, then import into LR (or upgrade LR).

I'll give it a try but did notice it only takes the RAW format to a G9 camera, mine is a G12. I did use the software that came with my camera and converted to a .tiff and then imported it to LR. At least that worked.

Is there an ACR upgrade for LR3 somewhere I haven't found?

It says that the ACR 6.6 is not compatiable with PhotoShop versions earlier than CS5, my version is CS3.

Edu, what version of lightroom are you using?

I bought a new copy of LR, 3.0 and a new computer. (I know 4 is now out) I installed it and it won't open my RAW files from my Canon G12, couldn't open them before but I thought it was because my computer and PS3 were too old, hence the new computer and LR. I went to Canon's site and downloaded what I thought would fix it (don't know what) In any case it didn't.

Now what? Do I need a newer version of LR? Can my older verson of PS (3) be made to open the RAW's from my G12? It will open RAW's from my 5D?

About a year ago I saw an article in "Outdoor Photographer" about "close up wide angle" shots. There were pictures that had flowers in the foreground that were detailed and in focus and the background was an expansive mountain range that was also in focus. I have torn my house apart looking for that magazine and cannot find it. It told about how to do this and what lenses to use. If anyone here has a picture like this I would love to see it. Thanks!

Here is my example, it was an accident... shot with a G12 on "auto"

I just did what you are trying to do a couple weeks ago.

I used a vivitar NDX filter (variable ND) it will go as dark as you like, but DO not try to use a cpl with it.

The NDX is basically 2cpl's mounted together with a graduated scale. I found mine for less than $30.00 and have had great sucess with it.

Post your photo, like to see it.

I know sunsets can seem like a dime-a- dozen but winter here has been tough. I went for a ride this afternoon and this was on my way home.

Post your photo that made your day.

[quote=English_Wolf]A panorama shot at 130mmm would have offered more detail, that is correct but.... The pattern would have been greatly enhanced if your point of view had been lower, compressing everything as you said.

Learn to crouch or even lie on your belly!!! (and damn the cow pies)

I don't see how one could have laid in the "damn cow pies" and gotten a shot. All that you would see would be the first fence?

If the fences were the subject how would you have framed them? A different angle maybe?

When you get back post up your favorite photo. Last time I was there (before California Adventurers was built) there were ninety thousand people in the park that day, you'll be busy just deciding on which line to wait in. Didn't leave until 2am, got our money's worth we did. Get a fanny pack for your wallet and camera, no purse.

Big camera is going to be a PAIN. I'd ask myself is the trip about your grandaughter and being in Dysneyland or is it about photographs. Without spending a lot of time you aren't going to get anything other than a snapshot anyway. Have fun, ride some rides and take a small point and shoot and take lots of photos. You will get a favorite.
