Got up to the parkway from Florida for two days.. You need several weeks per season and many years to catch all the right light. I did manage a few keepers in the 260miles plus I traveled. You folks still have time if you get there in the next few weeks. I'll go back next year for at least one week if not two........
These are quick edits I worked up today, just wanted to see if I had any keepers. Will take a week after work getting my edits done. Hope you enjoy, Martin......

Beautiful set of photos. Like a previous posting stated, I am partial to pictures 3 and 4 of the set. The fourth picture(second of 2 of the waterwheel) is like a postcard IMHO.

Timeless photos that work in any era. Monument Valley is a spectacular location that I have had the privilege of visiting twice. I hope to get back there in the next several years.

There is something about being at monument Valley. For me, visiting was a mystical experience that I can’t really explain. If you been there, you most likely know what I mean.

Thank you! I do have a portrait one of the first ram, but I am not sure the blur in the background works very well. What do you think?

IMHO, all of the first 4 photos are home runs. The portrait photo is a grand slam.

Sorry for the silly baseball metaphors, but heck it’s the playoffs and it’s the best analogy I can come up with on a Sunday morning.

I realize you asked specifically about locations in the Vancouver area but if you are going to be in Alberta I would suggest renting a car and driving the Icefields Parkway which begins north of Banff and ends just south of Jasper. I live in the Rockies and have photographed in all the major mountain ranges in the western US and the Alberta Rockies as seen from the Icefields Parkway are the most beautiful mountain scenery I've ever seen, absolutely gorgeous and if you can find a way to work this in with your train tour it will be well worth it. In my travels I don't often return to the same location more than once or twice but I've been to the Icefields Parkway six times.

Loved Banff as well as the icefields Parkway. Lake Louise and lake Moraine were all spectacular.

We're going on a Rocky Mountaineer train tour of the Canadian Rockies next week. It'll be my first time in Canada. We visit Vancouver, Kamloops, Lake Louise, Jasper, Banff etc. We'll be spending a couple of days in Vancouver before embarking on the train. I'm looking for suggestions for things to see and photograph in and around Vancouver. We're only there a couple of days and will need to take taxi or public transit. Maybe a rental car if there's something we just can't miss.

In addition to the above recommendations which are all wonderful, I would visit Granville island in Vancouver. You can either drive over to the island or take a water taxi from the city. Granville island has a wonderful public market as well as some nice restaurants. You will also have a beautiful view of the city from the island.

Sir, there is no need to resort to name calling on your part. We can agree to disagree on any subject matter. Resorting to name calling reflects poorly on your character.

We will just have to “agree to disagree”.

Guns don't kill people, other people do. A gun is simply a tool. If they have no access to guns, people will simply resort to using other "tools". Does this mean we need to ban anything that can be used as a weapon then? Plus, someone intent on using whatever to commit mayhem will not care if their "tool" of choice is illegal or not. New gun laws will primarily hurt noncriminal people, not those who are actually deranged. What is needed is enforcement of current laws & better mental health care.

I respect your opinion but I must also disagree with it. No one needs a military style weapon. Also, in this case, enforcement of current laws and better mental care would most likely not prevented this massacre. The shooter apparently had no criminal record and no one has apparently reported him for erractic behavior.

I heard there is a gun show in Vegas almost every week end.

There is a large gun show in Las Vegas coming up this weekend. Out of common decency, the gun show promoters and the hotel or venue should cancel the show or at least postpone the show. That is probably just wishful thinking on my part.

Nothing special, just a couple of quick shots around town! If you can spot the phone company name....
it may surprise you!
We enjoyed a late lunch, early dinner at Pete's.

Rhinebeck has so many neat shops and restaurants, lot of history here too. When we arrived, about 1:00PM the
streets were bustling with alot of people! Went in for lunch around 3:00 and they all left. We guess it was
because most of the stores closed at 4:00! We did shower before we took our trip!
I think I am glad those peppers were not in my lunch.
Hope you enjoy, thanks for visiting.

Nice set of pictures.

Rhinebeck is a beautiful little town with a lot of history. There are many interesting historic homes in the town as well as in nearby towns.

Frontier Communications also purchased the AT&T phone territory (does not include cell phones) several years ago. After a rocky transition, things have settled down and service is fine for me (some will no doubt disagree with my assessment).

If you are a fan of vintage aircraft (pre WW2) and you are ever in the area on a weekend, you might consider a visit to the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome which is located in nearby Red Hook, NY. There is a museum on site and there are airshows on weekends. I’ve been there several times and I have enjoyed my visits.

Good luck with your surgery.

100% spot on. Unfortunately, nothing will be done about it. Most politicians campaign coffers are lined with money from the NRA.

If nothing was done after the murders of 20 young innocents (plus the 6 adults killed) in Sandy Hook almost 5 years ago, the chances of anything happening after Las Vegas are not good.

IMHO, no private individual needs an assault rifle or a machine gun. They are weapons of mass destruction.

I have no problems with private gun ownership. That right is protected by the Second amendment. But a line must be drawn between a handgun or hunting rifle and a assault rifle or machine gun.

We had our first opportunity to travel to Gettysburg recently. It is a very sobering place....We had beautiful weather while there and learned a lot about our country's history.

Great photos. I especially loved the first one.

Gettysburg is a special place that every American should see at least once. I myself have been fortunate to visit Gettysburg three times over the years, the most recent was last year at this time.

When I had mine done, I had both eyes done. One was corrected to about 20/25. This gave good distance vision and I could read the bigger print on things, anything over 12-point type. The other one he left a little more near-sighted. This was my dominant eye so I could see all of the controls esily and use the viewfinder well. I still had reasonable vision in that eye. I was very happy. I needed reading glasses and I had a pair of progressive lenses that cleaned up the last bit of astigmatism in both eyes that I used on rare occasions.

This has all change now that I have had a detached retina in the dominant eye. The visual acuity in that eye is not very good and I can no longer use the viewfinder with that eye. I can still manage with the other eye reasonably well but I find I am using the reading glasses more often.

Have you seen an retinal specialist about your detached retina? The reason I ask is that I had a detached retina about 4 and 1/2 years ago. I had the surgery almost immediately after diagnosis and the results have been remarkable in my opinion. My vision in the impacted eye has returned to pre-condition levels. I was extremely lucky and I am eternally grateful to my retinal specialist for helping me. It was a very scary time.

After the retinal surgery, I then had to have cataract surgery on the same eye 6 months later. Everything worked out well there also. I also have a cataract in the other eye which will have to be taken care of in the not too distant future.

Good luck.

Rhinebeck Aerodrome, New York
Sunday September 17, 2017

As I was also there on Sunday, I thought I would add some of my pictures.

As was previously mentioned, not only is there a Air show on sundays (also saturday’s), there are skits, antique cars, and a fashion show. A little bit hokey but nice.

I’m actually surprised there was not a bigger crowd at the show. It was a beautiful day and I think the entrance prices were reasonable ($20.00 for seniors for example).
