How is it that a market as small as the UK can support at least a dozen photo magazines and we cant support 3 or 4

Just for starters.....IK did a search of camera stores in London and stopped counting after 100.

I am 71 and understand. I don't know if I think it's resting change, rather having knowledge of a era that we hold in fond memory and one that the younger generations have little knowledge of. I belong to a local film group that now includes both young and older members. The younger members are truly interested in film and the senior members provide a connection to the past they want.

Unfortunately, magazines Like Popular Photography belong to a era many of us may or may not fondly remember. We dropped our film off at the one hour kiosk or drug store and retrieved a package of negatives and prints that we faithfully put into albums (hard drives of the past). The photographs had a nice tactile look and feel.
Now most of us store the memories on an electronic hard drive where they are occasionally viewed or shared with another electronic device.
Sadly this is where magazines are going. I will miss them. I don't read electronic magazines. I like the feel and look of magazines as I like a printed photograph vs. viewing one on someone's phone.

And what is your point? I shouldn't express my opinion. Seems you did exactly that earlier in the thread.

Probably not what you want to hear but I think you should consider a fast prime lens. I have a macro and seldom use it.
When going out and not sure what I will encounter I always fall back on my 35 or 50mm f1.4.

This sounds like you have a Cambo Wide. I have one with a 6x9 back and Schneidner 47mm.

On a quick internet search I was able to find 60+ film labs around the country. Adorama, B&H and others stock film in many speeds and brands in 35mm thru 11x14.

I love film because of how each type of film and different lenses, depending on their age and glass, creates their own unique look.
The enjoyment starts with choosing a film based on the subject and conditions of the day, breaking open the box, removing the foil packing and loading the film. Then, advancing the film frame by frame and carefully composing each photograph; all the time never knowing what the outcome will be until developed. Once I get my negatives I am anxious to scan and look for that one treasure I hope will appear.
This process has kept photography alive and interesting for me.
I now belong to an enthusiastic Film Photography Meet-Up group that gets together once a week, discusses film, the cameras, processes and walks around town to see what subjects we can find.
I would encourage anyone that enjoys photography, that has not tried film, give is a try. I guarantee you know someone that has an old unused film camera packed away somewhere.
