And there is the root of it. Ideology/Mythology. My personal freedumb out weighs group well being, and anything I don't like or understand or interferes with my immediate wishes in any way has to be bad and or unconstitutional.

A fag is brit slang for a cigarette, therefore thickness of a cigarette paper.
In other words the man had precise control of his car.

The phrase “As speed increases, so does reaction time” should read “As speed increases, reaction time must be faster” or “As speed increases, reaction time must be shorter”.

I have observed that reaction time, or lack of, is not a major problem with many drivers.
It's physics, I don't care how perfect or instantaneous your reaction are, simple physics will not allow you stop
stop in the space you have allowed yourself. Periodically when this sort of discussion arises I'll ask people the if they know average stopping distance of their vehicle, far more often than not they haven't even thought about it. Also at motorway speeds the average distance to stop, including reaction is about the length of a football field.
And the destructive energy of an average car at those speeds is equal to several sticks of dynamite.

Since we all are staying home, and my clients have been put on hold I am doing some things just to "AMUSE MYSELF"! LOL

That said:I have photographed water droplets in the past, but like most of you I did it out of fun or just something to do. That's all I care to do with this, so I can't see spending lots of money on something that I won't use a lot. (Like we all haven't done that before!!!)

I am looking for some kind of "En-Expensive" kit, or system to do this with. When looking on YouTube last night and reviewing the videos, and then looking on Amazon, I could only find:

1) A system called "Splash-art"
&
2) A system called "Pluto"

Both of these look like good systems (Or kits) but I can't justify spending around $200.00 for something I am not going to use much at all.

It seems to me that I have read about, or seen a lesser expensive kit in the past.

If anyone knows of a name or a web site for any suggestions, I would be much appreciative to know of one.

And believe me, I did spend a lot of time last night trying to find something!

Thanks So Much,
Boone.

MIOPS have a kit for water drops. works well, controlled from your phone, about 100 bucks when I got it, Haven't used it for a bit, haven't had time, including now as I'm considered an essential and have to work everyday

But Italy does have the best spaghetti farms!

Actually it's Switzerland, this from the BBC around 1957, broadcast 1st April.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGzWmHmxsh4

People were calling to find out where to get the seeds, BBC told them to take a small length of spaghetti, put in some spaghetti sauce, place it on a sunny window sill and hope for the best.

A high schooler in WA state created this web site because he wanted some context. While the covid-19 is a disease to be taken very seriously, especially as containment seems our only option at the moment, reporting and reaction to it are way out of control, imo.
Context is everything, for instance, there are over 300 million people in the US, less than 3000 are confirmed and less than 60 have died. Italy >60m < 1500 died.

here is the link, https://ncov2019.live/data

Just be conscious and careful but DON'T panic, you can't possibly need that much TP .

Is there a software package (Windows 10) that will allow me to backup my work as I make changes during the day? I'd probably use a 1 or 2 TB WD drive. (I always turn my PC off at the end of the day before leaving the studio).

Presently I'm using Acronis 2019 (which I don't like) and backup my whole PC every Saturday. I have a 500gb SSD (which only has 64GB free) and 2-1 TB drives. Should I consider upping the SSD to a 1TB drive and then use my 500 as a Scratch Disk? To do so I'd have to swap my 2-1TB drives for a single 2TB drive.

Somewhere I saw that Apple has software that backs up as you go....don't remember the name, and was wondering if there was something similar for the PC.

I use OneDrive, comes with W10. As I have Office 365 personal that comes with 1TB of storage, you can buy more, and practically all my files are sync'd . Every thing is saved to Onedrive as I work ,
I've used it for years, never had any issue. I buy a new computer, sign on, everything is there, need something away from home/work sign on via a browser and I can get what I need. When I import to LR
I convert to DNG so even my photos are available.

One of my favorite sci fi writers has his characters refer to artificial intelligence devices as "artificial stupids" precisely because they are so literal they don't make the intuitive leaps that humans do routinely (even if often erroneously).

I've said for quite some time now the the phrase AI is a misnomer, they are not intelligent they are just expert systems, fast and powerful expert systems, getting more so everyday but not anywhere near "intelligent".

Although she been around for a while I recently discovered a SF writer by the name of Linda Nagata, I like her stories, anyway in her universe AI is not allowed, but I like her term, DI which stands for Dull Intelligence.

What do you mean by local version. Previously I had what was called MS Office Pro, and the version of Excel that came with that was perfect. The one that comes with the generic MS Office is not. For instance, on Pro, I could copy the format of one file without the data to make a new file. On the generic Office version, you can't do that.

The version of excel you have must be rather old,you have been able to create new empty but formatted worksheet from exiting worksheets for a while.

I agree with others who say try OpenOffice, I have used it many times, and I think it an excellent programme. I however use Office 365 personal $US70.00 per year, and although I mainly use excel and word, the thing that sold me on Office 365 over OpenOffice is the TB of OneDrive storage that come with it.

The biggest worst offending welfare recipients are mega-corps and banks and zillionaires etc.

The ones you seem to be taking pot shots at are neither mindless or lazy for the most part.

I don’t know any organization that’s reporting the news. Sadly, they are fabricating stories, stories that support their interests and make them more money and power. I can’t think of anything worse than CNN OR THE PRESENT DEM leadership. Geeeeeese!

So where do you get your news? and more important how do you know it's not just a fabricated story that supports your favourite channel or personal point of view.

I can think of several worse than CNN, OAN for one, Brietbart, Drudge Report, to name few, and lets not forget the "Ministry of Truth" officially known as Fox News

My husband and I went through the McDonald's driveway window and I gave the cashier a $5 bill.
Our total was $4.25, so I also handed her 25c.
She said, 'you gave me too much money.'
I said, 'Yes I know, but this way you can just give me a dollar back.'
She sighed and went to get the manager who asked me to repeat my request.
I did so, and he handed me back the 25c, and said 'We're sorry but we don’t do that kind of thing.'
The cashier then proceeded to give me back 75 cents in change.
Do not confuse the people at MacD's.

We had to have the garage door repaired.
The repairman told us that one of our problems was that we did not have a 'large' enough motor on the opener.
I thought for a minute, and said that we had the largest one made at that time, a 1/2 horsepower.
He shook his head and said, 'You need a 1/4 horsepower.'
I responded that 1/2 was larger than 1/4 and he said, 'NOOO, it's not. Four is larger than two.'
We haven't used that repairman since...

I live in a semi rural area.
We recently had a new neighbor call the local city council office to request the removal of the DEAR CROSSING sign on our road.

The reason: 'Too many dears are being hit by cars out here! I don't think this is a good place for them to be crossing anymore.'
IDIOT SIGHTING IN FOOD SERVICE.

My daughter went to a Mexican fast food and ordered a taco.
She asked the person behind the counter for 'minimal lettuce.'
He said he was sorry, but they only had iceberg lettuce.

I was at the airport, checking in at the gate when an airport employee asked,
'Has anyone put anything in your baggage without your knowledge?'
To which I replied, 'If it was without my knowledge, how would I know?'
He smiled knowingly and nodded, 'That's why we ask.'

The pedestrian light on the corner beeps when it's safe to cross the street.
I was crossing with an 'intellectually challenged' co-worker of mine.
She asked if I knew what the beeper was for.
I explained that it signals blind people when the light is red.
Appalled, she responded, 'what on earth are blind people doing driving?!'
She is a government employee.....

When my wife and I arrived at a car dealership to pick up our car after a
service, we were told the keys had been locked in it.
We went to the service department and found a mechanic working feverishly to unlock the driver’s side door.
As I watched from the passenger side, I instinctively tried the door handle and discovered that it was unlocked.
‘Hey,' I announced to the technician, 'its open!'
His reply, 'I know. I already did that side.'
STAY ALERT!
My husband and I went through the McDonald's drive... (show quote)

Something similar happened to me at a Popeye's Chicken. The person had already stared to dig out my change when I handed him the extra change from my pocket so as to round up . Completely threw him, I explained what my intention was but the math beat him so he called his super over, who must have been all of 1/2 hr older and it threw him as well. As there was nobody else in line I gave these two a quick math lesson, corrected them several times and eventually they both agreed on how much change I should get. I got my chicken and my change ,and and extra dollar, must have been new math, or is that alternative math.
