I had the same problem when I bought the Canon 5D Mark IV. I sent my lens in to Tamron Service Center, in New York. I was back in less than 10 days. They also cleaned, calibrated, and made adjustments to some of the elements, plus added my 6D specs, and 7D Mark II specs to the program chip, and removed the other camera specs of models I don't own. This makes the focus faster, and more accurate. Of course, it now will work with "live view"

I'm so glad that they clean them. I have quite a bit of dust in the lens, and while I don't think it has impaired my image quality, I believe it would bring down resale value if I tried to sell it. No plans to sell it, though, because it has been a gem for birds, wildlife and football.

This seems to be a problem with the 80D and tamron. I just read there is a firmware update for the lens.

Tamron has a 6 year warranty. I sent mine in because it wasn't focusing properly. They cleaned it and replaced some part and now it' s better than new. 3 day turnaround... and no charge.

That's what I was hoping to hear! Awesome!

I just got my Tamron 70-300 back from warrenty update. It worked OK on the T31 but soft focus on the 80D. All is well now and no big deal. But having a mom and pop camera store near me makes a really big difference.

Did you happen to notice...did it look like they cleaned your 70-300 while they had it in for the firmware update? My 150-600 has a lot of dust, and I'm hoping they'll take pity and clean it for me free of charge. :)

Tamron had an update on that lens, mostly for the first batch they produced. I'd contact Tamron and find out what they can or won't do for you.

Yes, as I mentioned, there is a firmware update and they're going to do it under warranty. I have it boxed up to send off. My copy was one of the very first ones. In fact, I believe the camera store sold me the first copy they got in.

I got my Tamron 150-600 from Norman Camera in Kalamazoo, and since it's over an hour drive I'll just mail it in myself. It would be great if Norman Camera were closer....but then, that could be a DANGEROUS situation for the wallet! :)

I have the P900 and am impressed by your shots - what zoom length did you use to get these excellent shots?

The one on the branch shows 268mm in the EXIF and the one on the bird feeder shows 152mm. I believe on the P900, full optical zoom would be 357mm. The birds were close, and the photos taken from my window.

Here I have posted one taken from a long distance across a field, and the full optical zoom was used, with the EXIF showing 357mm.

Winter in Michigan can get very long and tedious, and I get so desperate for something to shoot that I resort to the most mundane things, just to satisfy that urge to hear a "click". I trust I'm in good company.

One of the pitfalls when purchasing third party - especially with Canon .....

I've actually had pretty good luck with Tamron and Sigma lenses and will continue to buy them. My finances don't come close to allowing me to purchase anything Canon with a reach of 600mm, and because I'm just a hobby photographer I can settle for less than L quality.

This may be old news, but it was a surprise to me. I have the 1st generation of Tamron 150-600, which I've used on a Canon 60D and 70D. It was one of the very first ones manufactured.

I recently got an 80D, and imagine my disappointment to find that the live view shooting doesn't work with the Tamron 150-600.

I did some googling and then contacted Tamron, and they have a firmware update that they will do under warranty (love their six year USA warranty) that should take care of it.

Just thought I would post as a "heads up" to anyone currently using the original Tamron 150-600 who plan to purchase an 80d.

Beautiful! We have them here in southern lower Michigan, but they seem to be easier heard than seen. I have seen one in my 59 years, and just had time to a grab a few not so great shots and a short video. Your shot is great!

I was at Lake Woodruff today and caught these 2 lovelies checking each other out. Naturally, the sun was not in my favor . . . so i have crazy shimmers. I welcome anyone to help me out with what i might do to soften the glint off otter's head. I tried lowering the highlights and whites (a lot), but as you can see, still have some serious star shine! All comments and suggestions welcome.

How wonderful to get TWO great subjects in one photo!!!! Beautiful! It's frustrating when the sun or atmosphere messes with our photos!
