I bought the Gitzo head from Amazon.
They may have some used tripods.
Hi Toby and welcome to the forum.
Hello Paul. Welcome to the UHH.
I just bought a gitzo gkgk g07 head to put on my old focAL 20-08-45 aluminum tripod. Didn't realize I needed a 1/4-20 to 3/8-18 adapter. That should be in next week. But looks like the new head will be a great addition to the tripod.
I've had this tripod since I've started shooting film in 1982. Always worked well.
Nice capture. I like the colors. Great pose too.
I just checked my D5500. It only goes down to ISO 100.
In film I used to shoot ISO of 25 on occasion to get a less grainy enlargement of the pictures. I'm not sure the same applies to digital. Someone here is probably better qualified to answer.
Hello George and welcome to the forum.
Great picture and composition.
Congratulations on it being sele.
I like the reflection in the first one. Excellent colors of the blue sky and green slopes.
I like the price of the adapter compared to buying the equivalent lens for the digital just to have AF. I am used to manual focus as that is all my Pentax was. I still manual focus the D5500 sometimes as I find it easier for some situations.
Thanks to everyone for their input.
I used it for the Hawks and eagles that would frequent my old property. Good for closeup of the deer coming out of the woods.
Thank you all for your input.
For the price, I think I will try it. Maybe in the future I may spend the big money and buy one made for the Nikon with AF.
I know it will be a challenge. I used this lens on my Pentax ME Super for years doing some bird photos. Yes it is big and it took me some time to get used to rapidly focusing. I did a lot of prefocusing when I saw birds and estimated their flight pattern. Sometimes it worked, other times not so much.
