This is one of times many of us have experienced, that of losing a friend you never met. I never met Brent and I commented on only a couple of his photos, but recall fondly his gentle, friendly manner. Just seeing his moniker was enough to make us want to see what he had done this time. He was sure to thank those who commented on his obviously beautiful images; his love of what he was doing came through consistently. Sympathy to his family, to his friends known and unknown, and may the Lord welcome him home after a life well lived.

Fascinated by the geologic forces that resulted in such wonderful shapes. We try to get to Arches
on a regular basis as we transit via UT from San Antonio to Boseman to visit family. There is no end to the interesting things one can experience in Utah.

I've been there on several occasions and cannot recall seeing the water so low. Hopefully there will be adequate snowfall this year to help refill some areas of the western US.

Another story on the name of the highway is that, long ago when it was constructed, it cost that much per mile to build. No idea which, if either, is correct, but we can conjecture to our hearts content.

And the answer is...each has his or her own view and opinion of the image. Which is a good thing. If we all saw things the same way there would be less interest in photography. I am a b/w enthusiast and therefore gravitate in that direction, but the color rendition is beautiful as well.

The criss-cross of the incoming water in number 4 caught my attention. Overall a really nice group of images IMO!

Couldn't agree more, but the comment regarding who put them there is spot on. We who must live with what they refer to as government have the option to change things every two and every four years. Spread the word, because apparently there are people around who are unaware of that fact, thinking that their vote must reflect the votes of their parents or others by whom they are influenced. 2022 and 2024 offer us the chance to speak our collective mind, and if we don't do just that our chances to speak in '26 and '28 will be just that much dimmer. WE are the people, and WE must look around and cause the government to represent of OUR voices. Some very smart people in the late 1700s had that same idea, and it has worked pretty well for over 200 years.

My father, father-in-law, fav uncle and many of their friends, all WWII vets, were in my home frequently while I was growing up. A common thread was a reluctance to talk much about their experiences, which covered the globe. Terrible things were happening around the world and Americans were there to see and stop almost all of them. Another common thread was a tendency to not take any crap from anybody. They had seen the worst that man could come up with and not backed down. No need to take anything from civilian toughies who missed the show, for whatever reason. I spend my own career in uniform and will forever look up to those who preceded my group. As a group, they were really the greatest. I sometimes experience a feeling of having been born a generation too late.

If finding a person who can help on the phone isn't working, I think there is a host of tutorials, all free, on the net that might be of use to you. Just type in "Topaz Tutorials" and you may be surprised at the volume of material that pops up. I am very much like you, older (my tech education usually involved putting a chain on my bicycle) and often confused by what the experts have to say. The problem is, they are really experts on the subject matter, but not so much on conveying info to actual people. Best of luck...I believe Topaz really does good work once it gets going.

According to the Navajo guide with whom we toured, the pole on the right was used in the movie "The Eiger Sanction" with Clint Eastwood. During the Eastwood mountain climbing character's pre-climb training he and another character (played by George Kennedy) climbed that rock. At the top Kennedy asked whether he would like a beer and Eastwood replied, "You mean you carried a beer all the way up here?" or something to the effect, and the Kennedy character replied, "No, you did!" In Eastwood's backpack. A light point in a very entertaining motion picture.

Follow the river road northeast for a couple of miles and there is a turnoff to the right that takes you on a ride through the LaSalle Mountains. Beautiful ride, with an almost-ghost town at the very beginning. It winds up on the south side of Moab. Takes about a half day, but well worth it IMHO

I have a couple of 100s. On occasion they have had issues, and when I call Canon for assistance I have generally been happily impressed with the outcome. They have even replaced the print head without charge or very inexpensively. Recommend giving them a call - nothing to lose, right?
