Not sure why Nikon introduces a new lens when they can not fill the orders. I bought the Z9 and used my 200-500 with adapter and when this came out I sold my lens and now can't find this anywhere. I put my order in months ago and my update keeps prolonging it. If I knew this I would of held off on my sale of the 200-500.

Ordered mine from B&H on announcment day and Nikon direct in mid-September. Order fills last week by Nikon, B&H order canceled.

Yes! It never ceases to amaze me the comments some have inserting themselves into something they don't even want.

That's why I quit even trying here. Go to Fred Miranda or eBay or sell directly to MPB and KEH. Make a little less $$, but way less aggravation.

Thanks. Can I remove my hardrive and reinstall LR?

You can if the Hard drive is not where you keep apps. But why would you want to do that? It's not necessary. Just direct the download where you want LR to live.

On MacBook it’s Activity Monitor, there are several Adobe Apps and one PS, but no LR.

Sounds like you have the LR icon but no app or your MacBook doesn't know where to find it. Won't hurt you to reinstall.

After updating to Ventura LR won't open. I get the message LR quit unexpectedly. Canon fixed the printer problem and LR was working just fine. I went to open it today and it just won't open. Adobe is closed for the weekend. I called Apple but the person there kept reading her notes and we tried shutting down the MacBook Pro M1 which didn't do anything. The App is totally unresponsive.

Is your LR completely up to date? They came out with 13.01 to fix bugs almost instantly. Also, have you tried reinstalling LR?

From Jared Polin, "Thank You SONY, You Made ALL OF THIS Possible!" Ten years ago Sony with the first EVER fullframe mirrorless camera, changed the photo world forever.

Cheers and best to you all, whatever fullframe mirrorless cameras you may use.

Mirrorless, 27 years before Sony existed. Kodak's mission was to produce cameras cheap enough for the masses and take photography to a large audience.

A Nikon factory rep sitting in a well-known retail store once told me that off-brand batteries will void the Nikon warranty.

What else would you expect him to say?

If you did not have your flash pop up, there may have been something like a lamp or someone's wide-brimmed hat between your light source and your subject. Changing angle may have been why it was inconsistent.

When I first came to UHH I thought it was a photo sharing network. That's how I have thought of it ever since, and how I describe it when talking to people about where and what I do with my photos. I guess I will have to re-assess my thoughts on this.
I enjoy sharing my photos and I enjoy seeing others photos. That's what I'm here for. I do enjoy some of the conversations that come up, but that is always as a secondary consideration. I'm not a gear expert. And not even close to an expert on the computer side of digital photography. I don't understand very much of that, and really don't want to except when something wonky happens that I have to engage with to be able to get back to what's important, which is the photography.
I do agree completely with the original poster, Moshe, when he says that taking criticism from someone who doesn't post photographs just doesn't work very well for me.
When I first came to UHH I thought it was a photo ... (show quote)

For those who only want to share photographs, there is always Instagram, 500px, Flickr, Google photos, etc.

With our last annular solar eclipse there was quite a bit of activity but dispersed among many sections.
Next April we in South are to see ( weather and longevity permittng) a total eclipse.
Would Hoggers consider a single section to post and discuss this?

Seems like the Astrophotography section would be appropriate.

Mike Roetex who said “ I also use Fast RAWViewer, but I cull on the card while in the reader. It creates a Rejected folder. Then I simply import through Lightroom the remaining files I want to edit. Saves hard drive space.”

quote=Hip Coyote]Who are you referring to?

I too use a Mac mini with an external drive. To answer your previous question, "Command ." will automatically start a _Rejected folder on your card. It's similar to using "X" in Lightroom. I also let the settings change the background color from grey to red (like the black flag in LR). When I have several hundred to cull, I start using "Control ." and the pics advance automatically. After 100 or so, I right-click a red framed photo and send the lot to Reject. A box pops up when I right-click to warn me. But here is the good news, I technically haven't deleted from the card, just moved to a Reject_Z9 folder. When I perform the LR import, I just import the remaining keepers from the 100_Z9 folder.

***When I'm sure I have moved the desired keeper files to my hard disk, I put the card back in the camera and reformat.

Thanks again. One last one - does the preview use up the computer’s hard drive or is it cloud based ?

quote=Grahame]Yes, it will be totally independent from LR. With your images downloaded to a folder in your directory you just navigate your way there.

I also use Fast RAWViewer, but I cull on the card while in the reader. It creates a Rejected folder. Then I simply import through Lightroom the remaining files I want to edit. Saves hard drive space. I usually make a second culling once in LR. Recently I shot 1800 photos at a skateboard event. Got that down to 110 before importing. Further culled to about 25 from LR. Edited 6 I wanted to keep. Whole process to get to those 6 took about 30 minutes. Good luck!

Hey again. Went in and saw some of your skateboard photos, Real nice. We have a brand new park they just finished replacing the old one pretty good size. I always wanted to go to the old one that this one replaced but never got there. Am going for sure now. Any advice on shooting skateboarders. Post more when you can. Thanks BE SAFE!!

Tom

I used my Z9 with new 70-180 f2.8 Z lens. 20fps at 1/2000 and f2.8 aperture, some at f8. BBF, AF-C, wide area small and human eye detection. Stay as low as you can. Watch for patterns as they approach a ramp to jump so you can anticipate. Keep shooting for wipeouts! Just so you know, I shot 2000 photos in 30 minutes of action. Culled that down to 150, then down to 27. Edited 6. posted 2.

have fun!
