Fascinating, expecially that the shadow or reflection of the right-side tree's trunk seems to be at odds with the direction of the others. Certainly makes a great framing device for the heron. Intriguing result that holds my attention for a long time.
Thanks all for your kind comments. I don't normally do BW. But this day was so foggy, I could barely see the heron. The composition stuck in my mind and I instinctively had to shoot a few frames. Once I started to edit, BW quickly became the best option.
Great image Mike. Really like the angle/shadow that old cypress tree makes, good framing.

I like this, but haven't figured out quite why yet. I think maybe because it reminds me of old lithiographs of an earlier era. thanks for posting this.
