This is sometimes called stealth advertising.

It is a commercial for a Canon printer, nothing more, nothing less.

Canon has another video showing different photographers taking a portrait of a man. Each photographer was told a different bio of the man, hence, deferent interpretations in the portraits.

These commercials are to be meaningful and thought provoking, but in the end they are just commercials.

I have been involved in sports photography for about 12 years, primarily basketball, and have been satisfied using jpeg images out of the camera because I just didn't want to take the time to convert 500 + images. I have recently decided I need to get the best from my new camera-Canon 5DSR-I know it is supposedly not a "sports camera" but you get 15+ megapixel jpegs from the camera so I thought converting RAW images would increase the megapixel count from my converted images. When I import the pictures to Lightroom it says the images are 50.3 megapixels. After working on them and exporting, the image size is in the neighborhood of the jpeg size right out of the camera (14 to 17 megapixels). I was expecting a higher megapixel size. I do know I have converted to 240 dpi with Lightroom but I don't understand why the 50.3 megapixel image is now down to about 15. Should I be getting a higher megapixel image? Any suggestions will be appreciated. I have to admit that the pictures from Lightroom are somewhat better than those straight from the camera with simple adjustments from Picasa but I don't know if the time involved with LR is worth it. Thanks!

You are confusing megapixels with megabytes. You are also confused about "converting" dpi. dpi or ppi only comes into play when printing, it has no effect on the file size.

Since, I have started getting into infrared photography, I have the need for a program what has a decent color mixer. I use Lightroom and Photo Elements, but neither has one and I don't want to spend a lot of money on Photoshop just for the use of a color mixer.

Does anyone know of a relatively inexpensive program that provides a color mixer?

Thanks

I do not know what a "photo color mixer" is. Could it be similar to the HSL panel found in Lightroom?

Adobe made photoshop more affordable for photographers.
Photoshop creative suite 6 (CS6) was in the neighborhood of $600.00 plus the cost of future up grades. I could not justify spending that much money for a photo editing program, so I resorted to using PSE and Light Room. That cost ran about $200.00 with maybe another $120 every other year for up grades.

As a photographer I do not need all of the other programs in the Creative Suite. So when Adobe offered the photographers package of Light Room and Photoshop CC for $120 a year I thought that was a great deal and became a new subscriber. The photographers package is what is probably contributing to Adobe's increased sales.

I just hope that Adobe does not jack up the price in the future:)

I use the loupe to check for dust after making a sweep with the sweeper. It sure beats having to go out and take another picture of the sky, which is a real bummer when it's raining hard. :D I've thought about getting one of those electrostatic brushes.

No need to go out side to take your reference photo.
You can use your computer screen, just photograph a blank document in a program such as word.

If you have a top of the line Canon camera they are tough and you don't have to be quite as careful. A word of caution: Never take your camera to Russia to be cleaned at a camera store there. Here is how to do it

Well, that's how you get it clean, but how do you get it dried?

Big bag of rice? :)

I don't know about photos of deceased older children or of adults - presumably there would be photos taken during their lifetime, which is what I would like to have to remember them by.
OTOH, my Dad was called several times to take photos of deceased infants. All of them less than a week old. The babies were dressed up in Sunday Best and placed on an appropriate background: blanket, pillow or such. Dad took a number of photos at different angles, went home and printed them, and the next day took them to the bereaved parents. To my knowledge he never charged for them. They were the only photos the parents would have of their infant. Often they were the only way grandparents and other relatives got to see what the baby looked like, especially if they didn't live in the same town. This would all have been prior to 1960.
In this kind of instance, I fully support taking photos of a deceased person. I would not want my photo taken when attending a funeral. But, that's my opinion. I will never take my camera when attending a funeral either.

As an aside, there is presently the "now I lay me down to sleep" organization, a group of professional photographers who volunteer their services to photograph deceased or still born infants. UHH member, "Captain C" is/was a volunteer with this group.

I wouldn't be so quick to call L glass lenses crappy, there are some really good ones in the current product line and even the bad ones are a step up from the 'starter' lenses they replace.

Certainly you can preserve your image files long term by periodically backing them up, transferring them to new storage devices, etc. But once you are gone, will your next of kin be just as diligent in maintaining your vast image collection, performing periodic data back-ups as needed? And what about the next generation after that? Maybe... but probably not. An interuption in maintenance can easily result in lost data and dead storage devices.

When I am gone, my "next of kin" will store my "vast image collection" in the dumpster that they back up to the house:)

My email does not say that anything like that. What exactly does yours say? Are you by any chance looking at the newsletter email from last week? This is a different email. Here is the complete text:

"Dear Loyal Readers,

It is with regret we must inform you all that the Winter 2016 issue of c’t Digital Photography will be our last. Since the magazine’s launch in 2010, our goal has been to create the highest quality and most in-depth photography magazine available. We feel we’ve done just that. We grew steadily, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough to keep us in the market.

Our readers have been our biggest advocates and cheerleaders. Over the years, you took the time to introduce us to your photography clubs, friends, and family members, and helped spread the word about c’t Digital Photography. Without your loyalty and support we never would have made it past our first year of publication. We are eternally grateful. Thank you!

We’ve made arrangements with Rocky Nook to offer our active subscribers a $100 eBook voucher as compensation for any outstanding issues. For those unfamiliar with Rocky Nook, they are an educational photography book publisher whose focus closely aligns with that of c’t Digital Photography. Their books address the art, craft, and technology of photography, and feature best-selling authors such as Scott Kelby, Bruce Barnbaum, and Brian Matiash.

Subscriber compensation details and information on accessing the digital edition will be sent via email on or before December 15, 2015. Until then, if you have any questions, please contact us at assist@rockynook.com. Our website will remain up through June 2016 and we encourage you all to make use of the Free Article Downloads library and blog content. We will also continue to offer single issues through our online shop while supplies last.

Best wishes to you all!

Sincerely,
Your team at c’t Digital Photography "

I'll check out the link for B&W Film, can I assume that the film is 120? I do not have a take-up spool in the camera, perhaps should inquire about that too.?
Thanks again!
Dave

It probably takes 116 size film. 116 size film is a bit wider than the 120 film. The film size needed may be printed on the inside of the back. good luck

I have Paintshop Pro X6. I purchased it because it included Authentec Perfectly Clear. I asked Paintshop for instructions to batch process PC. Their instructions for creating a script don't work because when I reach the point to select from available editing choices Perfectly Clear is not an option. I emailed them a while ago for instructions which did work once. When I attempted it last week I had the original problem of not having PC as a script choice. I emailed them again & they told me they no longer support X6. Any help from Hogs????? Thanks!
