Coming from MA, we pump our own gas. I think the rest of NE is the same. It feels weird when I travel to NJ for work and I have to let someone else pump!
Of course, I don’t mind during really cold days :)
The things I learn from this forum! Thanks.
I tend to oscillate. Sometimes the simpler cameras help you focus on technique. Of course, I don't think that when I have an attack of GAS but then I look online like FLICKR and see beautiful photos taken with "simplier" cameras as well. The only diff when you really need fancier cameras (IMO) - if you shoot in low light or fast action.

If you aren't sure, rent! A chance to try something before buying.
Very nice and lucky shots. Mother nature liked you!
I second Bernado. When I was there last year, there were tons of cranes...
Oh I think I know which farm. I should visit!
Nice photo
That's unusual. Most instructors assume you want to double unless you explicitly ask for a single. Weird! Other than the money lost, best not to have gone. Sounds like anything could have set him off.
Nice capture! It looks like an Anhinga.
Nice! I love the backgrounds.
Have you considered full flash? Not full intensity but enough to help and balance out? Perhaps with a better Beamer if the distance is a little bit far?
I use the following for flower photography and I typically switch them quite a bit:
Canon 100mm
Tamron 180mm
Lensbaby velvet 56
Right now, I am using a lot of the lensbaby to give the flower a touch of a glow but I must say, I do like the tamron as I don't have to be super close to the flower. (This tamron rated well compared to the canon and was a LOT cheaper. Noises for Autofocus.) All manual focus. I only use a tripod some of the time.
Others are right though. You can make a lot of lenses work with time and patience.
Great owlet pictures. Lucky find
Is the first one an owl though? Coloring, beak and legs looks wrong for a great horned. But I am not an authority on backs of birds as much so I am just asking.
Good shots.
I rarely use shutter priority. I am on Aperature priority about 90% of the time except for something really fast like swallows. I find I can usually get what I want between aperature and ISO.
I have started to use more manual now but if I am in a lot of changing light conditions, I switch back to aperature priority.
Did the owl eat the mouse right away or was it courting its mate with food?
Good captures.
Removing and replacing the lens worked for me when it happened.
Is everything working now?
