Based on my field guide from National Geographic and photos I have taken in my nearby area, it is a male Brown-headed Cowbird.

Katydid is correct. The Bronzed Cowbirds have red eyes.

If you go to this website there's a lot of info about the modification: https://www.spencerscamera.com/astro-conversions.cfm

I'm getting ready to send a Canon 60D to them for modification. I'm no way qualified to do surgery on my camera.

Thanks for the info

There are many YouTube videos that you can watch, or there is this http://dslrmodifications.com/rebelmod450d1.html
Let us know how it turns out. Keep in mind that you will need to add a UV/IR filter to cut down on star bloating.

I’ve never attempted, things look a bit small for my eyes and hands.

Thank you

Kind of Looks like a Female Grossbeak , hard to tell without seeing front of head

It is not a female Evening Grosbeak. Besides being too small, an Evening Grosbeak would be an extremely rare bird there.

The head doesn't look right for a Goldfinch, and at least here, even off season the Goldfinches are much brighter yellow. In any case, I did add a question mark to the I.D.

It is an American Goldfinch. In basic (nonbreeding) plumage they are quite dull looking. Not bright yellow.
