Nice to see a set of old chisels that haven’t had the handles bashed to pieces! The sign of a true craftsman Graham.

I've still got my original mallet, but it's like Triggers broom.... three new heads and two new handles

I wonder how that will cross the pond?

You can only learn the art of using tools correctly and skillfully by using them in a practical way, by working with them, by making mistakes, by learning from those mistakes. Reading books and watching videos won't make you an accomplished woodworker or photographer.

That’s a lot of chisels! And you continue your craftsmanship with your excellent photographs!

Perhaps I'll grab a shot of some of my saws.

It will be a wrench to see them go, they become an extension of you, inanimate objects that develop a soul as you use them. You can coax them to do your will, but if you force them they develop a mind of their own

Ok it's good to stop there. Im a terrible shot I would probably just wing you.

During my first 40 years, I worked for a company specialising in high-quality interior joinery. I have worked in places such as The British Museum, the Victoria & Albert, the National Maritime, The Royal Observatory, the list goes on. We built and installed the traditional old-style museum cabinets in mahogany, walnut and oak. Now they are all glass and metal.

Here is a snap of just some of the chisels and gouges I have acquired over the years. I have a garage full of traditional woodworking tools. I have made the decision to donate them all to a charity that teaches people in developing countries a trade so that they can become self-sufficient. I won't be needing them, I'll keep just enough stuff to do those little jobs around the house

Where did you work?

I am a joiner by trade. For my last ten working years I drifted into laboratory installation. Pharmaceutical companies, university labs, even the governments top secret chemical-biological defence establishment. If I tell you anymore you will have to shoot me

Yes, in the nude section of UHH, soon nudes except for the mask and stylish black rubber gloves.

I am wearing my posing pouch under the suit. Will that qualify me for the nude section?

(For some reason the queues are shorter at Sainsbury's here).

I have priority delivery slots at Waitrose, one per week.

At Aldi the queues are right around the car park most days.

I have Lightroom 6 and Photoshop 5 and have been watching YouTube videos trying to learn how to use them. Even the basic videos seem to cover too much info at a time. The next issue is what is the proper picture. What needs adjusting. With all this high powered processing software I end up selecting auto adjust and leave it at that. It is totally overwhelming to me. I am really enjoying my Nikon d750 and shoot in M, one card raw and one jpeg. The processing stuff is just not fun. HELP.

Forget the videos for a while. Pick a photo and play around with the sliders etc for a while, look at how they change the picture, use the sliders very gently. When you have a good idea of what the basic sliders do, move onto another picture, decide how you want to change it, reduce/increase exposure, adjust contrast and or saturation and try to achieve your vision with what you have learned about the various controls. Keep trying, it will come. Once you have a basic understanding you can try the videos again.

Thanks, Richard, you have your fair of snakes in Australia, but you don't have to live quite so cheek by jowl with them

This farmer had spotted snakes in and out of his straw stack, they had to be got rid of. Snakes kill around 50,000 people per in India.

For me too bad the boy is looking at the camera. I find him to be a distraction. I can understand his curiosity, and so looking in your direction is a natural reaction. If he was looking at the pots and man he would have helped to draw the viewer into the scene.
But with street photography the players don’t always cooperate.

Thanks, Frank. I quite like people wandering in or out of frame with street type subjects. It avoids that "set piece" look. It adds life and immediacy. That's just my view
