Another Chai Wala

I have previously posted a number of pictures of chai wala's in India. I like this one because he is making it look rather like a religious ceremony.

OK - I give up - which one of those huge pots actually has tea in it?

It's in the little saucepan on the brazier

So the bigger ones are there just for dramatic effect?

For me too bad the boy is looking at the camera. I find him to be a distraction. I can understand his curiosity, and so looking in your direction is a natural reaction. If he was looking at the pots and man he would have helped to draw the viewer into the scene.
But with street photography the players don’t always cooperate.

Thanks, Frank. I quite like people wandering in or out of frame with street type subjects. It avoids that "set piece" look. It adds life and immediacy. That's just my view

Love the way you processed this! Great shot! Someone mentioned the boy as a distraction. My "tour" started with the chai wala, down through the curve of the pots, then to the boy and background elements. To me, the image has a good flow.

I think the youngster adds to the street feel nicely and gives the shot depth. Very nicely caught Graham.

I agree with drobvit, and with your sense of the “religious” take ... especially on the man’s posture.
