I know the site, I donated him a hard to find service manual :)

His collection is fairly comprehensive but not quite complete. Archive.org is another good site if you can find the original dead link there is a fair chance archive.org still has a copy.

This is the model I have

That's the one! Taking incident and reflected exposure readings is quite straight forward and easy, but if you want to be able to employ all the more advanced capabilities it gets much more technical. For instance taking multiple readings of different light sources and computing a final exposure. Good luck and have fun.

The attachment is "Minolta Infrared Receiver-Trigger"

But it only works for compatible Minolta Cameras, so it is pretty useless for most users. Save the money for that battery.

Good resource.

That is the site I already told him about.

Well offer accepted and i'm heading out to meet the fella now :)

If it doesn't come with the User Manual, you can download a PDF Manual free from Butkus. Just Google "Butkus". Did I mention that the download is free?

Well on mine, if the little battery is missing, the meter is not working.

Well if your Minolta Meter is a "Flash Meter IV" then there is something wrong with it bcause the "little battery" is not required for measurements. Take my word for it or RTM!

The OP gets a flashmeter iv and not the Autometer ivF

Yes, that is the model the OP stated and it is the top of the Minolta line and it does both incident and reflected measurements - Flash Meter IV - no "F"

If it's the same one I have, which i just found after a move, the only thing about it that is difficult is finding a place that carries the battery it uses.

My Minolta Flash Meter IV uses a AA Batery to power the measurement engine. The second battery which I suspect is what you are referring to is not needed to take exposure measurements and is not required to even be present in the meter.

Minolta exposure meters are excellent. Keep in mind that they were designed to be used with film, not digital cameras.
I own The Autometer IV F which I seldom use. I find that it is not that accurate with digital flash and for ambient light it also falls short.
Are they still useful? Yes, if you watch the histogram after taking a picture.

Any exposure meter will work the same with either film or digital. If the meter is accurate, it will display the correct exposure, period. I would be interested in seeing your explanation for why you believe it is not good for digital.

I gave up my Minolta because it would not measure aperture, only shutter.

I don't understand the above quoted comment. My Minolta Flash Meter IV allows me to set the F number and then displays the correct SS or it allows me to set SS and displays the correct F number.

I am trying to clean up an external hard drive and by moving big files to trash I am not seeing space cleared up. Is there a different process to erase file on a hard drive. Thanks as always

Did you dump the Recycle Bin? Just erasing a file dows not remove it. It only moves it to the Recycle bin.

They won't last half as long as real Canon batteries. Stick with OEM Canon batteries. I've bought some of the cheapies and they don't last as long, and half of them wouldn't even take a charge after using just a couple of times.

Why don't I believe you?

Are you sure you mean MM as 25mm equals 1 inch. Might you mean CM. If you re referring to width rather than length for get the CM thing

The size referred to is the diameter of the top section of the tripod.
