Here is some info that some of you may find helpful and/or useful if looking at Induro tripods. They list their "Leg Sizes" as 0 Series, 1 Series, 2 Series, etc. No where on their website could I find what that corresponded to in mm, so I emailed them. I got the following info from Garry in their technical department.

0 Series-21mm

1 Series-25mm

2 Series-28mm

3 Series-32mm

4 Series-36mm

5 Series-41mm

It's almost exactly the same as Gitzo - which they do a great job at simulating. Good to know. Thanks!

Are you sure you mean MM as 25mm equals 1 inch. Might you mean CM. If you re referring to width rather than length for get the CM thing

The size referred to is the diameter of the top section of the tripod.

Its the diameter of the leg sections in mm. Those are the sizes sent to me by their tech dept. Comparing an Induro to a Gitzo Series 1 Tripod, the Gitzo has a top leg diameter of 25.3mm per the specs on their website, and the Induro Series 1 says 25mm.

Yes, maybe the most important parameter of a tripod - especially regarding legs ? - is the the size of the bottom/lower leg size - not the top - but does anyone give THAT dimension ??

My Induro tripod seems to be as well built as my Gitzo. If I ever have to replace the Gitzo it will be with an Induro.

I have had the Induro CLT203 for about 18 months which I like very much. Recently, since I have gone mirrorless, I was looking at the Induro CLT103. Wow, just in the past 18 months the prices of Induro tripods have really gone up now that these tripods have been so popular.

No problem... my fault for not saying Leg Diameter instead of Leg Size. I should have used the right terminology.

Vince, here are the Gitzo numbers right out of their catalog, along with a summary of why top tube thickness is important and why load capacity isn't. Since most of the vibration that can rob an image of it's sharpness occurs between the camera/lens, head and tripod top plate - tripods are typically made to dampen and resist movement at the top of the legs. As a result, thicker leg top sections tend to be the most stable, as they are attached to very large and robust top plates. There are a number of tripod manufacturers that publish their tube diameters. One of the things that sets Gitzo and RRS tripod legs is the extremely thin-walled tube material that they use, which does mean a small increase in size of the smaller tubes. But there is no question that the diameter of the top tube is one of the best predictors of tripod stability, and the diameter of the bottom section is not necessarily an issue.

Induro, Benro, Feisol, the higher end Sirui and other mfgrs are pretty transparent about top tube diameters, though only Gitzo actually codifies it down to focal lengths recommendations that correlate to tube diameters.

Good info, btw!
