Great shots--clear and colorful-and close-also high shutter speed or very still bird-
I love the detail and clarity I shoot many fewer shots- but do not get them with your precision you do a Great Job -you really do the best flowers I have seen anywhere they must be tripod taken also.
The lens needs to get a fix on a solid object sometimes if the wall near object will not give the lens an object to fix on also the sky will offer the same problem but the infinity setting should kick in. I have those issues at times-also a small object may be hard to focus on like a small bird -this is when the focus is set on small point focus...mainly.
Good shots-you might try to soften them a bit and loose some shine-cut the sharpness in the camera bit and use a umbrella set up or some type of softener on the flash or diffuser on the flash-the overall quality is good-
The viewfinder is the main reason I like the smaller d3400 over all the mirrorless cameras and the speed of capturing photos-I have both SLR's and mirrorless cameras, but these 2 factors keep me going back to SLR. I also think the field separation is generally better -the bokeh with the SLR's is generally better in my opinion. But the mirrorless cameras are smaller and lighter.
If you miss it get a Canon G1X basic model for under 300.00 used -it has a large lens like the rebel series and a good lens for sharpness-carry it inside your coat in colder conditions-also great for inside and out portraits-it has the same software as the g16 I think -very good Canon color-easy to carry though not pocket size-jacket or coat will work. Unless you want to spend more the G1x 11 -111-etc are 500-700. used at KEH with 180 day warranty. X to 120mm or so. Not a great Macro shooter though-under 2 ft. ok. great in camera color-
If you have a Nikon 35 1.8 or a 50. you will have better low light-Did Holiday shots with the D720 and 35mm and had great shots last year. Just move to accommodate group size -good luck. Keep shutter speed up for best -also shoot 5 shots-count to 3 shoot on 2! Oh and shoot several shots with you in them too-
Do you really need 50mbt. files -maybe for many of the shots you might be able to shoot fewer mgbt.s or try JPG. for those that are not going to be used except for e mails etc. I found my computer filling up too quickly saving only my better shots etc. I think that 16g. is plenty of Ram. also do a clean up occasionally with the apple prom. I do wish I had saved fewer shots rather than going through at a later date and cleaning out many high data shots. Just a thought-too much stuff even with cloud use. I have an mac air with 8 g ram and 586 g memory. and cloud does help keep the total down otherwise I was chewing up the 586g. too fast-started being more selective which shots were really keepers
I have several SLR cameras and many lenses and have found my little RX 100 Sony to be really good for family pictures it just does a fine quality job-also my d720 with a 24 70 2.8 lens also is good but am finding the sony seems to make the people actually look very good and captures colors very well-faces are very pleasant with it. I shoot in manual mode and Ap.2.0 SSPEED 160 with late afternoon light-no flash when possible. Iso 1600. Usually 17 to 20 and 3 deep but mixed not perfectly arranged some casual arrangement seems better. Just make sure everyone can see the camera and you see everyone. Be creative in arrangement and set up and shoot quickly-on three but shoot on the 2 count-take 2 -3 shots and look at them quickly -you have about 30 seconds with youngsters! I crop and edit for the best photos. A couch works well for a central grouping and some kneeling some sitting in front on the floor. Let them arrange themselves with some help! Not too formal!
Your ISO was too high-try and set yours at 1,000 or lower-set it yourself-
But the 50 200 hits the sweet number as a 100 400-I have the 75 300 but it's not as sharpen my opinion-and is smaller-
Most of my OMD5 Mirrorless Bird shots are at feeders or still shots- SLRS are quicker it is true for flight shots especially.
Because of the sensor size Olympus lenses have a 2x factor to lens size-the Panasonic lenses work on Olympus 4-3 Micro cameras-the pan. 50 200 becomes a 100 -400mm and is very sharp on birds etc. and fairly small.I have found it to be my best lens in that usage-it also can be used with the Sony A 6 series with an adaptor but will be self focusing-works well with Sonys Peaking feature too. I use it on my Om D 5 Olympus. It's relatively small for that size lens. Check out the shots on Flicker for the Pan. 50 200mm lens!
Yes they are very good-6 month warranty-5 stores-I buy a lot from them-great to call for info.
Been there miss the Smallwood store-Nice capture!
