I understand that Adobe is contemplating raising the price of Adobe Photoshop CC from $10.00 per month to $20.00 per month. Guess it is time to start looking for alternative photo editing programs.

WRONG!!!!!

The $20.00 a month plan included higher storage limits as compared to the storage in the $10.00 a month plan.

I recorded some music with my phone, sent it to my computer, and then copied it to a flash drive as both an mp3 and an mp4. Both will play on my computer, but they do not play in my car. The car doesn't see anything on the flash drive. Any ideas what's going on?

Could it be that the car does not like the music? LOL

Here is the dof for the shot the OP took
Depth of field
Near limit 254.6 ft
Far limit 365.1 ft
Total 110.5 ft

So if the bird is not within that 100 feet of focus area, the bird will be out of focus.

Years ago, an SLR came with a 50mm lens, which would give a normal, real world view. For several different cameras, that was my go-to lens. I had a W/A and a tele, but that 50mm was my everyday shooter. Now, I use a 28-300mm lens on my D750. Do any of you rely on the standard-view lens for general photography - a 35mm or 50mm?

I use the "nifty fifty" quite often.

I went back to college to learn how to be better with the DSLR. (Was a film guy for 30 years). As you all know, there's a lot to learn.
That being said, my instructor does quite a bit using a light meter when composing shots for flash/portrait photography. The meter he uses costs about $240.
Does anyone know of an affordable light meter? I don't plan on going into portraiture, and wonder if I even need one when all I'll be using is a speed light. There will be times I'll be doing favors for friends & family taking family or holiday pix, but that's about it
Your advice please.

A speed light on the camera is not the best thing to use for good portraiture shots. I would not shoot a portrait without my light meter. I also use it for shooting barns and other stationary objects. Don't leave home without it.

You have a 3" LCD screen now, how much difference do you think another 1/2" will actually make?
Lots of people are left eye dominant and use their left eye with many different DSLRs. It may take time but getting used to using your left eye would be a better solution for sure.

That sums up more of what photography should be. Regardless of the medium, the philosophy is what's important. It's the art that counts.

In my neck of the woods we call them click and runs. Click and run to the next spot then click and run again. LOL

If I'm not using it for commercial purposes do I have to get a certificate (even if the weight requires it)?

The weight does not require you to have a certificate. The weight only requires you to register the drone with the FAA and put the number assigned in a visible location on the drone. Cost for the number is $5.00

I was really interested, downloaded the app and the first thing it did was tell me that I was within 5 miles of a (tiny) airport. I would have to file a date and time that I would be flying it (on my own land) 90 days before flying, and if I got rained out......file again.

Also, the certification was on the weight of the drone not the profession/commercial use.

The certificate starts with the weight of the drone and if you are using it for commercial purposes you need a certificate. The weight of the drone is for the requirement to get an FAA number for the drone.

To operate a drone for commercial or business purposes you will need a FAA Remote Pilot Certificate (FAA Part 107). Just google “Drone License and it will pull up FAA and any requirements for your state. Having run my own business for 21 years you would definitely want insurance to cover your endeavors and the insurance company would require that you have the proper license.
That said, my brother (a career helicopter pilot) recently purchased a DJI Mavic 2 Zoom ($1220) and the videos he has posted on FB are stunning. It has all kinds of features and the ability to track moving objects. In real estate your could put a box around a house and then circle the property and the camera would stay locked on the house. This is something I am definitely going to seriously look at myself!

The FAA test for the Part 107 Certificate requires a lot of study. The test does cost $150.00. If you do not pass the test, you pay another $150.00 to retake it. Plus the cost of instruction, then the cost of insurance and the cost of the drone. You could be talking about $2000,00 to $2500.00 or more. So be prepared. Then in 2 years you have to renew the 107 certificate.

Good Luck.

A drone pilot has every right to fly over any house. Hovering over a house without permission is another story.

I recently went on a daytime photo excursion with a co-worker who also enjoys photography. He has eye for, and enjoys black and white photography, and likes to photograph trucks(passenger and semis. I was just trying to come up with an interesting place to go next time, where there would be lots of trucks(last time we went to the Pismo Beach, CA Monarch Butterfly Grove). When I Googled for a possible location idea, all it came up with is Budget, UHaul, rental places, and yes I know we could go to car lots, but was hoping to come up with a more interesting idea than that. Anybody have any location ideas?
Thank you,
