Really scary. I know there is a price tag to pay but I don't need many lenses and already have some primes: af and ais.
How is manual focus on the 610?

I have had some amazing shots with my D600 (same sensor as D610) inside of churches. The low light capability is among the very top of all DSLR's. Coupled with a VR lens ISO 3200 and 6400 are very useable with shutter speeds as low a 1/10 hand held. The following shot was taken with the kit 24-85mm VR at 42mm, ISO 3200, F4.5, 1/10 sec handheld. It is not "tack" sharp, but darn good for 1/10th! Noise is low too. Not sure if the D7100 can do this without a lot more noise, I don't have one to try!

I have not found there to be a noise issue with he 7100 up to iso 1600. Above that the 610 definitely has it beat, but how often do you need to shoot at higher than that. Yes, there are times when being able to shoot cleanly at a higher iso is needed and that is why I grab the 610 for dark sky and indoor (weddings, etc) photography. But for most of my shooting they are pretty much equal.

One of the subjects I prefer are churches so often when inside you have to shoot at 3200 or so. Maybe the 610 is a better choice afterall, even if the 7100 is nearly half the price here in Italy.

I would select the D610 and move into the full frame world.

I'm leaning more and more towards the FF world. I already had a D700 but sold it because too heavy for me and moved to mirrorless but the FF virus already attached me.

i have both cameras, the 610 just does a better job, i don't know anything about the acronyms, but the 7100 seems to produce more noise in the finished product

Thanks. What about low iso? Is noise the same?

I own both a 610 and a 7100. Most of my pictures are of scenic landscapes with a sprinkling of indoor shots. My 7100 gets the bulk of my use although whenever I am going to be shooting in less than good light I will reach for the 610. The IQ on them is pretty similar....most people could probably not tell the difference. I would disagree with tramsey that the 610 is overkill, but I do agree that they are so similar that you would be better off getting the 7100 and putting the extra money into good glass because that will make a bigger difference than which of the two bodies you select.

Has the D7100 ny issues? What makes me hesitate is that I have the Fuji so I think the two are too similar. It's true that I want to sell the Fuji but is it a smart idea selling the Fuji to buy the 7100?

Have fun shooting.

That was also my thoughts but then I think that changing the Fuji with the D7100 is not such a smart idea.

I consider the D7100 because it's cheaper and I'm not a professional

The 810 is very far away from my budget. I am satisfied with the Fuji but it has some downsides that for me are very annoying, nothing to worry much about but I think it's time to change and the only possible alternative is FF. In my subjective opinion obviously.

The D7100 and Fuji X-E2 do seem somewhat redundant. Your photography interests are the strengths of a full frame camera.

I think what you say makes sense. If I keep the Fuji it has no sense buying the D7100, Maybe the only upgrade possible is a FF camera because Fuji takes excellent pictures.

Yes, the oil-spot issue is fixed on the D610.

I think you answered the question by what use you listed first: landscape, where IQ trumps AF.

FWIW, both are great cameras, both will take great pictures. Now you are asking about the relatively small differences which will help you make your decision. That's good, but once you make the decision, don't worry about second-guessing yourself. :-)

Thanks. Yes my main use is landscapes and Churches or monuments that I love taking photos of. But It will be my main camera because my second system will become my Olympus with a complete set of lenses. I will sell my Fuji X-E2 and Samsung NX1100. Maybe it has no sense buyiny the D7100 when I have the Fuji?

Hi all. Next month I'm going to buy a new camera body but really can't make my decision: D7100 or D610?
Yes I know all that FF vs DX stuff but my main concerna is IQ and AF. From what I can see the AF module on the D7100 is better but the IQ is better (but by how much?) on the D610 beeing it a FF.
My use will be and all-rounder: landscape - architecture - some portraits (not many - only family) - holidays no Street etc.

Can you give me your feedback and help me taking my decision.
P.S. is the oil-spot issue fixed on the 610?
