You heard her say exactly that? It took me only a couple of minutes to find the video with the exact wording of what she said: "We have to pass the [health care] bill so that YOU [emphasis mine] can find out what's in it." Big difference. The right wing just made the small change from "you" to "we" and the whole thing got blown up to this huge controversy. The whole thing is ridiculous. Nancy Pelosi probably knows more about what's in the ACA than anybody in Congress considering her involvement in it.
And I also had no problem finding the context of the Obama remark: "Your company -- you didn't build that." In context, the president had been talking about roads and bridges, water and sewer, and then added the infamous line. He, of course, should have said, "You didn't build THOSE." Again, this is ridiculous on the face of it. Even the Obama haters give him credit for his political savvy and fund-raising abilities. Why would he say, "Your business -- you didn't build that"?
Fact-checking is not that difficult. Are lies being perpetuated for partisan reasons? If Obama is as bad as some of you seem to think, you should'nt need to resort to lies and dirty tricks.
This is not what Nancy Pelosi said and is also a misquote taken out of context. Same is true of "Your company -- you didn't build that." Why do so many posters here stoop to such tactics? I realize that a lie repeated often enough becomes an accepted fact, but I would hope that on this site we wouldn't waste so much time and space discussing what are clearly lies.
Good close-ups of a striking bird. I have been privileged to see them flock in my yard for two years in a row now (estimated number: 400-500 in two groups, no exaggeration).
A few on the theme of "flight."
Good study of egret feathers. I have a great photo of my great-aunt Lillian in such a hat, circa 1900, that nearly caused the extinction of this wonderful bird. I'll have to dig it out and post it later. I am posting one of my photos of the hat feathers that I called "Elegance of Egret." You will see that the feathers look better on the egret.

Definitely Anhinga. Here's a fairly recent shot of the Anhinga, also in S.W. Florida.

I have been collecting some of the "howlers" I see on this site, but I try not to be too (usually seen as "to") critical. One of my favorites is: "I love cat's to." I don't understand the use (as above)of the apostrophe for plurals. How many times have I seen "photo's" and similar intended plurals? And yet, as I pointed out before, "it's is NOT a possessive, but rather a contraction of "it" and "is". The apostrophe in plurals has become pervasive, here and elsewhere.
I just have a hard time believing that something that is not choice (effeminacy, homosexuality, etc.)is a sin against God. It's like saying that having blue eyes is a sin. What are you supposed to do about it? I believe that Thomas Paine had it right again when he said: "Belief in a cruel God makes a cruel man." For my part, I have a very well developed sense of skepticism and tend to think that what you believe is foolishness and fairy tales, so maybe I should recuse myself from any further theological discussions.
Obviously you are one of those who believes that being "effeminate" or homosexual is a choice and also a sin against God. You can't use your own (God-given?) reason to figure anything out, but rely only what is written in the Book or told to you by some television evangelist. As I have said in this forum before, if you don't think for yourself, you're not thinking at all. And I don't believe that St. Paul's list of malefactors was dictated to him by Jesus. St. Paul also had a very low opinion of women. Perhaps you also think that your beliefs should become the law of the state? I agree here with Thomas Paine who said that "persecution is not an original feature in any religion, but it is always the strongly marked feature of all religions established by law."
Should our understanding of God's law really have Leviticus as its foundation? In Leviticus we learn that [homosexuality] is an "abomination," but also that eating shellfish is an abomination. Are there degrees of abomination I wonder?
Leviticus also teaches us that owning slaves, male or female, is allowed if they are from a foreign country. Are your biblically legal slaves from Canada or Mexico?
I am posting a sunset and a post-sunset photo.

I was trying to find a thread about Anhingas and haven't been able to find it. I'll post some of my Anhinga shots and see what happens.
Here's one of an Osprey in flight. Magnificent birds and great at snatching fish with their talons.

Pedalmasher: Even though my avatar is a cormorant, I have never seen such striking close-ups of these blue-eyed beauties. Reall well done.
The Cedar Waxwings arrived last year in my yard (SW Florida) in two flocks I estimated to total about 400 birds. I was alerted to their presence by the "whoosh" sound they make when the flock turns in unison.
