It was magic. It just floated.

I am still wondering how the drop did not break/fall. I watched this little critter swim in this drop for about 10 mins. It rained really hard. Went outside to see what I could see. Between the size and movement along with light wind, perfect sharpness was not going to happen.

This is a great picture. I think hummers like the rain. Every time I take the garden hose out and spray they come out of nowhere and fly through the spray back and forth sometimes for five minutes at a time.

It did not seem to bother them. I had two today, some days six. Could spend all day watching them.

Thanks. Maybe tomorrow will give up some warm weather and colors.

So much rain. Decided to work with what was around. This little one kept coming back.

This is a great question. Each photographer is clearly different. I have tens of thousands of pictures. Often wonder what my kids and grandkids will do. What will be the next "format" necessary to save the digital world. Currently I am using 2T cloud. Trying to clear off my computer. Some are hung and I rotate many to keep the grand kids updated. I also have a running slide show in my kitchen on a frame. It is a good friend. I like seeing all the pictures. I can store 4000. Takes a while to run through. I update that often.

Sunset photos need to follow the same guidelines as any other landscape. I don't really like the expression "rule of thirds". I prefer to put it this way - draw a cross on your canvas with a horizontal line halfway up and a vertical line in the centre. Now don't put any compositional elements near those lines. Colour in sunsets is a very subjective matter, and it depends greatly on the location and height of the clouds. When taking sunset, or sunrise, pictures don't forget to look behind you - often the gaudy colours in the sunset reflect off the clouds behind you giving more subtle colours.

Thanks mcveed! I like your landscape definition of thirds. I will continue to practice.

I agree the first two are wonderful images, but the third is just awesome. Please share how you get a star burst. Is that a filter or pp? That image is perfect.

I like the over all general feel of this photo, yet I too would crop it differently.

I think a different crop will help. Thanks for your comments.

Competing - you have hit the nail on the head. I could not figure out what was bothering me about it. I will work on a different crop and see if I can adjust the colors.
Thanks for your input.

For me, yes to your first question. I would say you could have a few pictures here. Cropped from middle up with ship sun and sky, cropped from middle down with ship sun and beach, or maybe cropped from both sides with any of the above combinations. Seems you foreground is competing with your background or vise-versa, I don't know maybe not. Only you know what you are trying to say here. Some pp would add a lot as this image just seems dark to me even though there is plenty of color.

Spent a sunrise on the east coast of FL and then drove to the gulf side for the sunset. Bucket list item.

I am trying to work on composition for sunsets. I feel that a sunset needs to be anchored with something more than just the sun. Does this image have too much? I am also wondering what you all feel makes for great colors in a sunset. Darker foregrounds and let the sun do the work, or reflections, or are sunset images best after the sun is down and the sky has the "afterburner" as my husband refers to it all.
Thanks for your comments and input.

Here are a few of the Bald Eagle photos I took on a recent trip to Alaska. Canon 70-300mm lens.

I just LOVE it when I open up the threads and the images just take my breath away. And then immediately after that feeling my "I wish I was there and could take images that way!" Stunning! Thanks for sharing
