It's not like this is a very popular situation, but if you are a Mac user who wants to learn about Windows, here are some tips.

http://www.pcworld.com/article/3179609/computers/switching-from-mac-to-pc-choosing-a-laptop.html

All I can say is, I have them both. Macbook pro and Windows 10 desktop. When I want something that boots fast, Mac it is. But when I want something
easy to use, it's Windows every time.

I just heard on TV that we can expect a "snow event" today. When I was a kid, it was called "snow."

Always need to make something sound bigger than it is. Can't tell the actual temp, got to say 'wind chill' to make it sound more severe. In summer it is 'heat index'. Why don't we ever hear of wind chill factor in the summer?

Time travel is a fascinating subject for movies and books, but I don't believe it will ever be possible. Why not? There is no past, and there is no future, simple as that. They do not exist as places we can visit. The past is a memory, and the future has not happened yet. Sure, there is the currently irrelevant phenomenon of tremendous gravity or tremendous speed slowing down time for the people involved, but that's not the same thing. Any opinions?

Jerry, you are killing the movie industry ( not that it would be a bad thing considering the current circumstances)

Cheers.

Even Boones Farm, Thunderbird, and Ripple are quality wines. It is just the LEVEL of quality that differs.

I'm new here, so please bare with my, maybe stupid question:
I am looking for a telephoto lens in the 500 or 600mm range. The Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary costs almost as much as the Nikkor 200-500mm, which I regard a better lens for my D3300 Nikon. However, I managed to find a new Sigma 150-500mm still brand new (old stock) for almost half the price of the new 150-600mm.
Is the 150-500mm a bargain or is it so much worse than the latest lens that it would not be worthwhile ?
Thank you in advance...

I do not know anything about the Sigma 150-600, but I do have the 150-500. I consider it to be a very good lens. I had a chance to test it against the Nikon version and could see no difference in my photo tests.

I'm with you there. In one way, I am sorry to see warm weather come in the spring, because this will bring out all the sleeveless, shorts wearing, Walmart shoppers.

You must have a lot of blackouts where you live.

I keep one in each vehicle and also scattered about the house in strategic locations so that I never have to "go looking". One a month (on the 1st) I gather them all up and recharge the batteries, which all recharge fairly quickly. I failed to mention that 3 of the small ones which take the 14500 battery, are Ultraviolet. Amazing the things that show up around the house that you wish didn't.

I got a set of these small flashlights for $24 a few days ago, but the price is creeping up. It's designed to operate on 3.7v AA batteries, but while I wait for those batteries to arrive, I inserted a 1.2v Eneloop. These things are bright! Pulling on the end shade changes it from a flood to a spot, and it can also act as a strobe. I have several little $2.00 plastic and aluminum lights, but these are in a class by themselves.

Jerry, if you think these are bright, you should try the big brother. Takes an 18650 battery. Amazon or Ebay. I've probably got 15-20 of those and about 5 of the ones of which you speak.

Yes, and a tour helicopter crashed near a war memorial in Hawaii. And what point are you trying to make?

I've been using cordless tools for as long as I can remember, but I've never had a battery go bad. This morning, I tried to use my DeWalk 20v drill - nothing. Putting the battery on the charger got no reaction - no charging light. I bought this as a set with drill/driver and impact drill, two batteries, a charger, and a carry bag. Looking up batteries online, it would cost me $65 for a new one or $99 for two. I can get a new drill, battery, and charger in a carry bag for $99. I have other DeWalt 20v tools, so I won't have to buy a new battery, but I'm surprised it died in under five years. This reminds me of the printer and ink situation.

I don't have DeWalt, rather Ryobi, but my experience may apply. Ryobi kits that include the battery, do not usually include the best battery. Check DeWalt situation before purchase. As a rule, the Li-ion batteries are very good, but do have a definite life span. I am thankful that I no longer have the crappy nicad batteries.

Good idea to keep an eye on the package sales. Sometimes a very good deal can be had. My preferred Ryobi batteries are $99 each, but around the holidays, they generally have 2 packs for the same price.

EDIT: I just sent Amazon an email about four orders with delivery times ranging from 5 to 11 days, all the Prime items.

Keep us posted on your results. I had a nice talk with a rep on the phone and he 'pushed some buttons'. THINGS seeed better after that.

Private aircraft flights are illegal below 18,000 over the restricted Grand Canyon per the sectional charts. Commercial flights for tours are heavily restricted as to where, when and how they fly.
This is substantially different from narcissistic drone flyers creating havoc over every square foot of the canyon with annoying devices not giving a darn who they annoy with the device skimming just above peoples heads, scaring mules and all the wildlife.

The Grand Canyon was just an example, Death Valley is another. Canyonlands. Plenty of wide open space to fly a quadcopter with no one in site. And yet, a blanket ban. Ridiculous. I have been to the Grand Canyon on a number of occasions. Sometimes the tour aircraft are thick as bees. Not so long ago, one tour helicopter crashed in the canyon. No outcry concerning the damage done, but many times more than a quadcopter.
