Hi quixdraw,
The D2X will spoil you. The next thing you know, you'll have a D4 or D5 or D6 or ??? <GRN> Enjoy the new (old) camera. Take care & ...
Hi Brucer,
I've been using the focus stacking feature in Elements + ($12.00 one-time charge) along with PSE 15 for the past year after dropping the Adobe subscription. It has served my needs just fine using a D7200 and a D750 but I have no knowledge about using the programs on a D850 file(s) though I don't think it would make any difference. Take care & ...

I splurged $100 on an old Nikkor Ai 300mm 4.5 lens. It is a manual focus lens used on D750, and I am missing focus, also some chromatic aberration I think. Please take a look at these photos. Is the lens ok? Why do I miss focus at less than infinity? Any tips? These shots were handheld.
I ran into a similar problem with my D750 and an old lens. I found I need to adjust the "diopter" (I think that's what it's called) on the eyepiece so I could better see what I was focusing on. Just a thought. Take care & ...
Hi mizzee,
Darn! I laughed over your comments because I'd done the same thing a couple of days ago. I can guarantee the "Healing Brush Tool" in PS with NOT remove the spot. Take care & ...
Hi Regis,
I look forward to your pictures; I don't think you take any bad shots. <GRN> I used to live in Sandpoint so I'm very familiar with your home town. We used to go there or Spokane for a shopping trip. Take care & ...
I've been focus stacking for several years using PSE 15 supported with Elements +. Elements + is a great program with about 70 "things" (as I remember, it's been a while since I counted them) it will add to PSE ??. Take care & ..
Hi bwortmann,
I don't have the D300s but do use the D700 for live streaming. Getting "clean" HDMI out of the D700 is not possible but there is a work-a-round. I use OBS Studio software to control my camera(s) for live streaming to Zoom & Facebook. Before turning on your "Virtual Camera" in OBS: Turn on your camera, place it in "Scenes" then select it in "Sources." In the setup section of Sources grab the corners of the bounding box and drag the box beyond the area of view so the HDMI "stuff" is outside the field of view. Then pull the "focus location box into one of the corners so it is also outside of the field of view. On my FF D700, doing this changes a 35mm lens to about the same field-of-view at a 50 or 60 mm lens; that's the downside of this process but the only way I've found to get rid of the HDMI "stuff" for streaming with older cameras like the D700. I used to have a D300 and as I remember this process should function as a work-a-round. Take care & ...
Hi Jim,
I always look forward to your photos and they never disappoint. Excellent! Take care & ...
Hi,
I just got a Samsung S20 last Friday and have been "playing" with the camera(s), all 4 of them. I must say it does a good job and the 8K video is interesting though I haven't had time to really check it out. I'm wondering if 8K will prove to be a good way to capture 30 frames-per-second stills to later edit. I haven't had time to check that concept out yet. Take care & ...
Hi Group,
Until I retired as a magazine editor 3 years ago, I never thought I'd leave the LR/PS $10.00 combo subscription. Then I retired and one day discovered I was "editing" a picture and figured it cost me almost $60.00 to do so; I just wasn't using the program(s) enough to warrant the cost. I've switched to Bridge (free) and PSE/PRE 15 and find they do everything I need for the catalog and magazine photography I still do. I use Bridge almost every day to illustrate pictures (full screen) on Zoom via Screen Share. I'm more than happy with Bridge with the PSE/PRE combo. Take care & ...
I'm with Fotoartist, I've been down the LR road and decided to simplify a couple of years ago. I got rid of the subscription Adobe and went with Photoshop Elements 15 and a fairly current copy of Bridge. When I download from my camera, I date and name the folder so I can easily find what I'm looking for using Windows Explorer. EX: Inside the 2020 folder, I have folders like 10-20XYZ-Catalog, 10-22ABC-GraduationPix, or 10-31HalloweenTrickTreaters. It works for me and I've almost saved enough to afford a Nikon D850; I can hardly wait. Take care & ...
I sure remember them. I'm still using one of their manual focus, 35mm lenses on my D7000 camera. It seems to do a really good job. Take care & ...
Hi Zenmonkey,
The short answer is "yes." How to do it: Make a new Scene that we'll call 3-cameras. Next, go to Sources and select the first camera (MacBook) as a source; adjust the bounding box so it is the size you want. Next, repeat the process with the second camera and adjust its bounding box. Last, repeat the process with camera 3. Adjust the 3 bounding boxes until they can be viewed on-screen as you wish.
If you decide to use the "Virtual Camera" to stream through Zoom, you'll need to adjust the audio by about 210 to 240 ms (depending on your computer, mine is a PC so I don't know the setting for a Mac). Go to "Edit" and the bottom selection is for "Audio" adjustments. The adjustment is there in the middle of the top line. Take care & ...
Hi group,
Two things I discovered this week: When using my laptop with Zoom while on its battery supply, my D750 (and all of my other Nikons) turns off live view when I switch to it from another camera (EX: onboard laptop). When the power supply is plugged into the laptop, it switches back and forth perfectly. In either case, when using the Virtual Camera function in OBS Studio, the switch back & forth is seamless (doesn't turn off).
Several of my old Nikons will not produce "clean HDMI" out in live view. The workaround I found is to pull the camera's bounding box beyond the picture boarders in OBS. This process puts the shuttler/aperture, data, etc. outside the view of OBS & Zoom. A tighter angle of view is the trade off but I can always move the camera a bit to compensate. Just some Zoom-online FYI that took me several days to figure out. Take care & ...
