My problem seems to be the opposite of everyone else. Both of my Canons (5d and 7D) have battery packs on them so the weight is a bit more. When I shoot in Portrait, (vertical) position the weight drags the camera out of position. I have tightened the trigger grip with the knurled tolling knob on the handle and it still occasionally falls. Comments?

My advice, dump the cord and get a radio trigger. As it happens I have just such a device. I will give it to you if you will pay the postage.

Tell me how much and where to send the money. My address is:

My Canon 7D mkII has a built in flash ...which I( would almost always NOT prefer to use. But on top of that flash is a shoe. When I try to use that for off camera flash it fails to fire. All batteries are charged. Any comments... and thanks in advance

Although I didn't start this thread I think we've pretty much beat it to death. Some of us are vets and some are not. Some are young and some not as much so. But we all share one thing.... we love photography and we constantly search for "perfection" It's a cruel mistress that can steal your time and money and cheats on you with inferior equipment..... over priced gear and substitutions such as mini cams and phones.... but we all keep coming back. Let's ring in the New Year as a special band of brothers and sisters and take as many shots of the world as we can.... why? Because we love it. Happy New Year to all of the Hogs and their mates

Its easy to tell the amateurs from the professionals.
the professionals wont be using an Iphone... ( what are u people thinking?)

The professionals have moved up and will be using
an IPAD.

Theres nothing better than trying to shoot the bride as she walks down the Isle and have 30 Ipads stuck out in the isle in front of you .taking pics.

OOPS I may have spoke too soon, Check out these iphone pics http://www.ippawards.com/2015-winning-photographs/

Some nice shots there.... like we always say... it's not the camera... it's the man operating it that makes the shot

Sorry to blow a hole in your theory but I served in
WW II, Korea and Nam.... thirty years service so I guess I am a VETERAN and I am usually more serious about things and try to keep the government's hands OFF of my money. Let 'THOSE PEOPLE OVERSEAS" START TAKING CARE OF THEIR OWN PEOPLE. NO VETERAN SHOULD EVER HAVE TO SLEEP ON THE STREET

Not a problem... the man in Pakistan that sold me the camera said it would never break down. He sounded so sincere I just trusted him and gave him my credit card number. He said the phone is in the mail and not to worry. Can't wait to start making money like I'm also going to do when I get that lottery money I sent him the credit card number for. Life is really easy when you use your head and not fall for those phony Canon and Nikon ads

Give a Golden Retriever a martini and she'll pose all day for you. Get her drunk and she'll even take off her fur

I screwed the whole bunch by not buying an expensive camera. I bought a cell phone and then placed an ad in the paper. I will now do weddings and I expect to make the really big bucks. I even read the highlighted part of the manual like on/off. Gotta remember to call Brinks for my money pick up

By all means... gather whatever money you can and get the MK II. I use it for BIF AND portraits. I shoot stock for Getty and I seldom use my other Canon cameras any more. Just save them like faithful old race horses.... looking for a way to breed them

I'm been bumming around the stock photography biz for a few years (more than a decade) and I am seeing it decline in profitability. I am looking for other sources of sales,,,, other than sitting in a tent at art shows... and maybe even get a good web page. One Hog I spoke to over the years about another subject had a page that listed his works and also gave prices and shipping info. Anyone want to throw their educated and experienced hat into the ring. Blessed are the poor for they shall work in stock photography... at least some will. I need suggestions on good web pages hosting and operations.
Thanks
