We dont see many movies at the theater but yesterday
we did go to see the movie, Lincoln. The theater was very crowded.
It was a very good movie. It would have been nice to do a history review of that period before seeing the movie and we both said we would not mind seeing it again.
It showed Lincoln in thought processes as he struggled with the war and trying to push through the 13th Amendment to the Constitution. There was a lot of 1800's history showing the Congress as they waged their political battles but I thought with a great emphasis on several face to face confrontations expressing not only their political views but also their efforts to show their opposing colleagues in a contrasting light. At times the language
(of the times) was a little hard to pick up but it was refreshing to hear that discourse as a contrast to current day expressions.
There were a couple of scenes where Lincoln was trying to convince a politician to vote a certain way that reminded me of President Lyndon Johnson. There also was an individual who reminded me of Ted Kennedy in appearance.
I was impressed by the photographic settings in the film. There were a couple of war scenes that I had to look away from but those scenes added to the reality of the period and the war confrontation.
I wonder who & how many current Congressional individuals will see this movie.
The big irony - it was the Republican Party of that period that pushed through this amendment.
I rate the movie as 5 out of 5 stars!
(Please look for my new TV show I rate the movies which will be airing sometime in the not so near future!)
Great video fotowerks.
Don't have photo of this but how about the guy who, on the first day of vacation, taking a picture of the Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth, Maine tripped on some broken concrete as he was trying to get a better angle and broke his wrist?
I had surgery a week later, out of commission for 6-8 weeks).
Not sure how but I saved the D7000 with my left hand.
Attaching one of the photos before the accident (hope that's OK.)
I head up a Vets committee for a seniors group I belong to.
For the last several years we've held a lunch party with some fun activities/games for the local VA day care facility. There are about 35-40 Vets in this program. The Vets, the staff and our committee have a great time at this event. We have this event around Veterans Day but in addition I'm proposing to do this at other times of the year too when a lot of these Vets are "forgotten".
Thank you Veterans as well as their families on this Veterans Day and throughout the year.

Not my idea but it's pretty useful right about now.

Great photos of NH Linda Lea.
Where exactly is this?
We're going there this coming w/e (Me.NH, Vt).
Really looking forward to the trip.
The photos were taken in Newport, in Sullivan County, NH. It's peak right now so I don't think you'll see much color unless you visit south of here.
Bring clothing that can be layered, really cold and damp in the morning and evening. I'd pack rain gear as well and shoes that won't slip on moist moss covered rocks. Otherwise, enjoy.

Thanks for the info Linda.
We're bringing extra gear - to keep the Nikon warm of course!
After a brief stop in Maine, we're headed to the warmth of Mt. Washington and taking the Cog RR. Any photo advice for that excursion?
Then swinging into Vt. (White River Junction/Woodstock area).
Great photos of NH Linda Lea.

No Joke Sarge. The company is looking for investors and I'm collecting the cash. So if you're interested in investing in one of the greatest inventions for the future, send me your "contribution". Of course that may lead to your getting a smaller house. But once it takes off (it doesn't fly) I'll, I mean we'll, be living on easy street.
Download this 2 minute video to see some "plain English" to promote a new product. The video gets better as it progresses. (I have the order forms :) )

The attachment works. You have to download.
It's about two minutes long and gets more interesting as it proceeds. Hope you enjoy.
Excellent.
The attachment (if it works) is something I'm looking into.
The film describes the product in detail.
(I hope this attachment works - it's an extremely interesting communication piece about the product). :)
In addition to a house you may be looking for a boat.
Found this one when I was down there - sounded like a good deal but stay away from this one - it has a lean on it! :)
Hey Sarge,
Thought you were going to post more than one photo?
The real Key West is the only one coming through on my computer. :) :)
Great shots. Thanks for sharing.
We saw some eagles when we were there last year but the weather wasn't cooperating at the time.
Whale tails are always fun to take.
AK is a photographers dream trip.
Thanks again BigBear for starting this topic & for the preview and the info.
Hal81 - Plan on taking the train - not sure about the wife - she doesn't like heights. Used to work for the NY Central in the late 60's - but I think this is a little different.
