All in all, I think the 6dII is well worth my considerations, but as mentioned previously, this will be a big purchase for me and even a couple hundred either way could make or break the deal. Photography is now my primary recreational activity and my skills now deserve a real upgrade in the tools I use and the 6dI was already high on my list of upgrade possibilities and the 6dII is now an even better option that I would love to have and I am considering. However, I feel the need to ask if the original 6dI will come down in price any more after the full release of the 6dII and if so what does this group feel might be the low end price before they are only available on the used market? Any feedback would be appreciated.

I was aware of the new tilt screen and consider it a nice improvement as well, but I'll have to read up on the 5 axis stabilization thing. I seldom make movies, but having the option to take quality ones is well worth considering and I'll need to compare those qualities from model to model before giving the movie thing much weight in my decision to buy. I also really appreciate the improved seals and added weather resistance and realize that all this cost money to bring to market. At this point, a used 5D3 may well be a good choice for me, especially at the $1500.00 price point mentioned here. I am certainly not above buying used or reconditioned, but would much prefer a new purchase if possible.

So far, no one has even mentioned the Nikon offerings and the 610 appears to be a lot of bang for the bucks. I have been a canon shooter for quite a while and have a couple of EF lenses that I could use on a FF body, but really don't have enough money invested in lenses to lock me into Canon, however, I am indeed leaning that way and have been very happy with the canon products I now own and use.

I guess that I'm also a bit confused about the "outdated product" statement made about the 6DII above and would appreicate some more information about that statement if possible. Otherwise, I really appreciate all the input so far!

I've been interested in the 6D to move up to a full frame camera for awhile now, but just couldn't pull the trigger primarily due to what I felt was a low end autofocus system. Apparently, the 6D Mark II will soon be available with the primary improvement being a much improved autofocus system similar to the 70D. However, the price is now much improved as well and it no longer seems to fit into the same price point category I was considering. Therefore, I'm still hesitant to jump onboard due to the Nikon offerings and the difference in price needed to move on up to the 5D. Therefore, I'd like to start a discussion on the new 6D Mark II and see what others here think of the upgrade and it's overall value. Being retired now, this will be a big purchase for me and I'd appreciate any and all input on this subject, thanks!
