This is my first photo submitted to the gallery. Rita is a rescue we adopted about one year ago. We believe she is a Pit Bull/Lab mix, but not sure. Looks mean, but an absolute sweetheart. She is a dainty 80 pounds.

The lighting and the model make this a very pleasing photo. The model's smile sells the shot.

Absolutely agree! It is wonderful to see a shot where the subject appears to be so comfortable in her own skin, and not obviously posed. Almost candid looking.

Excuse my spelling error. And, contrary to your opinion, I don't like tattoos either. I just think that breast implants (and most tattoos) are generally unattractive. Bigger ain't always better and if I want to see artwork, I'll go to a museum.

Excellent posing and lighting from a photography standpoint, but a more natural model would have been more appealing. Obviously augmented breasts just detract from the ambiance of the photo.

A refurb item may never have had a problem. It is any item that has been returned for any reason, thoroughly tested by the manufacturer, and offered for sale. It could have been returned because the user thought it was too complicated and replaced it with a point & shoot. Or, whatever.

Based on a quick look at eBay, there are several D80's going cheap because of the Err msg.

I didn't post the name because too often when somebody raves about a service, it's because they're phonies or paid shills for the vendor. Blackest found it in eBay, and his link is correct. I just wanted to alert fellow photogs to a great and inexpensive service, without advertising. During my search I found several D80's being practically given away because of this problem. If somebody wanted a good backup Nikon body for little cost, get one of these "broken" D80's and send it to fantastec.

I have had my D80 for several years. I have not been as active a photographer as in the past, plus I had a couple point & shoots for quick stuff. I still like the D80 and haven't found a financially sound reason to move up to a D7200 yet. Plus, I am convinced that CCD is better at still shots than CMOS. Well, two weeks ago I was taking shots of my honey's freshly blooming garden, when the camera quit. It was the non-recoverable "Err" message. BTW, the shutter count was only 7,134. I found online that an authorized repair center could fix it for about $250. So, I started thinking about a refurb D7200. However, on eBay there was a vendor who would fix it for $95.00. I sent it to them and had it back in a week. They repaired the SQ gear and aligned gear position and sequence sensor, realigned drive gear and realigned sequence gear assembly, checked Aperture lever position and travel, cleaned mirror box and sensor, tested focus tracking with both AF and AF-S lenses, and tested auto exposure. Plus they did a 17 point maintenance cleaning and checking. And a 90 day warranty on the repair. Great for $95.00. If any of you have the same issue and are planning to dump your D80, and would like an alternative. Message me and I'll provide the contact info. BTW, I am not connected to this vendor, except as a very satisfied customer.

If you have to shoot this, keep in mind that you cannot relax and enjoy the wedding. You are there to focus on creating memories of this day. Yes, you need to pose the bride and groom alone and with their respective families, limiting that to parents and children. Don't forget the exchanging of rings, cake cutting, bouquet toss, first dance as married couple, and dances with their respective parents. You have to be somewhat intrusive, positioning yourself for the best angle, lighting, etc. It is highly unlikely that you will need a long lense, unless you want to shoot someone boating, as you will have to be quick to get candid shots of guests acting naturally. Don't shoot guests as they are stuffing their faces at the reception, as that is not generally appreciated. Remember, it doesn't matter how great a photographer you are if missed getting a shot of old Aunt Sadie at her last family event.

Shooting film vs. digital forces the photographer to make better choices in composition, angle, lighting, focus, shutter and aperture. Why? Because you only have 24 or 36 exposures per roll vs. a couple thousand or more images on an SD card. You can't realistically spray and pray, hoping for that one great shot out of many. So, those of us antiques who learned when we were poor and film was costly were, out of necessity, forced to consider all if the components of every shot.
