Hi!
I used to have a heavy camera addiction, Canons mostly. I've been "camera clean and sober" since digital came along, surviving on merely an occasional nip of a point-and-shoot or a bridge camera.
But my lifestyle has changed and I need the hard stuff again. So I can start fresh with only a whimper of brand loyalty.
Mostly outdoor, landscape, and bird photography with some indoor architecture. Very little portrait if any.
I'm a bit of a focus freak, a pixel peeper, and I love lots of megapixels.
So I'm kinda sorta looking at the Sony a7's but think I would prefer Canon lenses. I understand that isn't too hard to do (except that it works with some lenses and not others) but does it really work? Is the result with, say, a Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM Telephoto Zoom Lens as good as when it is mated with a real Canon camera? Or should I rethink this?

And prior to 1990 Grand Central had a changing display of the World's largest photo transparency - the 18-foot by 60-foot Kodak Colorama.

Great post! I've been thinking about trying a bit of digital stereo photography lately.
We have a 1950's/60's Viewmaster stereo camera that we used to use. It produced four images in a standard 35-mm frame. Pairs of images were then cut apart (using a special cutting device that we have) and then mounted into the familiar Viewmaster reels for use with the viewers or with projectors (we have one) and polarized glasses.

I got to fly through Grand Canyon on one many years ago. Rough ride but great pictures!
Made of corrugated aluminum, it was like flying inside a quanset hut with wings. With all three engines roaring the sound inside was deafening and the plane sort of loped along at about 90 miles an hour. I was busy taking photos and turning green.
Worst moment was on the return approach to the airport. I was a passenger in the co-pilot seat and we appeared to be headed straight for a spot below south rim. I looked at the pilot and he appeared alive, awake, and intently focused on the rocks directly in front of us. I wondered if he had suicidal tendencies.
I screamed and blabbered about the rocks and he said, "Don't worry, there's an updraft right at the rim."
Sure enough, just before we would have smashed into the wall we were tossed up and made a perfect landing.
As I staggered out I whimpered, "What if it wasn't there?"
"It's always there," he said.
