After a day of rain and noting some rare clouds in the eastern sky, I thought I'd check out the city from my favorite location at sunset.

Peter Lik is an excellent marketeer, entrepreneur, and a decent photographer. I don't think has comitted fraud of any kind, unless he paid the buyer of the "most expensive photograph" some amount, no matter how small to make the purchase at that price or that the sale and price never happened. There is no decimation of this private sale to an anonymous collector. He is very similar to "The Painter of Light," the late Thomas Kinkade. I personally find their work uninspired and uninspiring but others seem to love it. And they buy it and then buy more. That doesn't make it great art. High demand for limited product generates higher prices.

It was a lucky convergence of circumstance but I found myself in the Bay Area at a time coinciding with the race, and being a life long fan of the America's Cup, had to be there. I will try to post some images to this thread tomorrow as well as some from he Match races in San Diego the previous year where the teams were flying the half scale version of these magnificent craft. They have been archived, otherwise I would have posted them here.

Nice job Brent. How did you get that Oracle shot? were you on shore at the Cup in the SF Bay or on board one of the committee boats? I got some great shots up there but your crop and color treatment used here are great.

Sorry for the bad information. Though I do use these batteries, they are NiMH as has been pointed out not Lithium. But they are great batteries just the same.

I have been using the Eneloop lithium batteries in my 580EX for a year without a problem. I shoot events and go through a three hour shoot averaging 350 clicks usually with one load of 4 aa batteries and have never had a problem with overheating. I realize that this is just my personal experience with one particular brand but thought I should share.

My bad. They are NiMH.

Every description I've seen in reference to the Eneloops batteries is that they are Ni-MH and not Lithium-Ion unless an older generation of them was.

I looked the author up on the Wiki and I can't see where he studied art or art history, only that he had an interest in art. He has a right to his opinion but in my opinion, it is not informed so is of little value. I think the Guardian keeps him on staff because he is inflammatory in his style and thus generates page clicks and multiple comments. In closing; there are art critics and would be art critics. This guy qualifies as neither.

I wrote this on another page posting of the UHH... Here is again as it seems to fit here.

"Well.... I'll Tell Ya......

There are people "out there" who have a higher education and sometimes fall into the "cracks" of the reality of society where their chosen field of study was really not what they could do. So .... With that said.

There are Writers and "Would Be" writers... There are Photographers and "Would Be" photographers... There are Artists, and "Would Be" Artists (Musicians included). When the "Would Be" discover (without telling anyone - sometimes not even themselves) that they really have NO Talent for their chosen field of study, they must try other things... One is to Bullshit an editor (with his "sheet of paper" he acquired from the college of his choice) that he (she) is an ART CRITIC, and or "expert" in the given field.
These unfortunate people can NOT create anything but something that we toilet flush on a daily basis. They do succeed on making life of the true creative person miserable. And really have absolutely NOTHING to give to the betterment of the worlds cultural feelings.

So.....

To make only themselves feel important = They create very long expiations of what we all can see as simple.

The simple is to "Cut The Bullshit!".

What are your thoughts on this critic's opinion of the most expensive photograph ever sold?

I think you may have opened up the shadows a bit too much as well. Your colors seem to be missing black. If you dial it back a bit and like the others have suggested, reduce the saturation your photo will appear more natural and pleasing.

When I was first shooting real estate, I had a 20D and mounted the Canon 10-22. I loved that lens but when I upgraded to my 5D the lens wouldn't fit. I actually sold it here through UHH. It's the perfect lens for shooting interiors. To replace this lens I purchased (through UHH)an older 17-35 f2.8, a near equivalent to my 10-22 and have been happy with the results.

I have a Canon 7d and have been asked by a real estate agent to start taking interior pictures to compliment the exteriors I already do. Does anyone have a recommendation for a Canon wide angle lens they might use?

Thanks. That would be great. and if Fkaufman3 would like the lens, he may have more immediate need, and I would forego the lens to accommodate him for his trip to Brazil, should you decide to break up your kit.
