As others have pointed out, TSA rules do not apply in Argentina. Rules vary from country to country.

Security agents have a lot of discretion in determining what poses a risk, in the US and elsewhere. Once they determine that an item poses a risk that is it. "Go with the flow" is good advice.

Rules also can vary between different airports in the same country. In the US, for instance, different airports have different scanning equipment, which drives the rules. This is why protocols can vary greatly between airports in the same country.

As a rule of thumb, I would put everything hat could be interpreted as a weapon into a checked bag. Tripods and monopods are certainly in that category.

Years ago, one of my sons explained to a friend what a rotary dial phone was: you know, you stick a finger into a hole an turn the dial. Soon, we will have to explain DSLRs that way too: you know, they had a prism and a mirror that kept flipping up and down that made the camera heavy and bulky. And so it goes.

The constant presence of safari vehicles is stressing many animals. Safari overtourism has become a problem in many parts of Africa.

The DSLR format is certainly not dead.

I drive a 20 year old stick-shift car. Stick-shift is dead.

I like my car. I you like your DSLR that is fine too

Here is the dilemma. This certainly is a fine camera that can get the job done. However, this does not address the ethical dilemmas this poses.

We should get away from the notion that DSLRs are good starter cameras for young people. The DSLR format is dead. We are not doing young people a service getting them into cameras that have nothing to do what photography is now and will be in the future.

Just google the lens you have to find out what mount it uses. I have some old screw mount lenses that turned out to be M-42. It is easy to find an adapter for Sony e-mount for little money. My M-42 to Sony FE adapter works great, and it was only $10 or $20.

Nothing like investing in two systems at once...enjoy the pain.

My thought as well. It seems to me that it is time to decide for one system. If you already have a Canon RF 100-400, why would you invest in a Sony 100-400mm? To be sure, this is a superb lens. I use it for wildlife and landscape, and it has never disappointed. It often travels with me, and its size and weight are bearable, in contrast to the Sony 200-600mm.

You won't go wrong with an OM1. My 12-100 Pro has been my go to on many trips, and basically lives on my camera. But the choice is yours, There's something to be said for the all in one super zooms, but if you're concern is IQ, stick with the 12-100. How many shots do you take where you need the extra reach? Is 200mm enough, or do you need 300? (Taking into account the 2Xcrop factor?)

I think that this is a good strategy. 12-100mm (24-200mm full-frame equivalent) is a good travel lens. I too would be concerned about the IQ super zooms. I have traveled to all these places, except for Greenland, and this focal range will do the trick. A longer lens might be nice, depending on OP's shooting style, but I would guess that the 12-100mm will do 99% of the shots.

Another vote for taking both. The a6000 with the 18-135mm is a nice and compact combo, and the RX 100 is tiny. I always take two cameras on trips like that. On a trip to Ecuador ten years ago my charger and spare battery for my DSLR were stolen. So I shot the rest of my trip with my point-and-shoot, with good results.

I love the amazing capabilities of modern mirrorless cameras. Photography has become easier, good photography has not. Lots of people are taking lots of mediocre shots these days. Good photography still takes skill, creativity, time, patience, and persistence, but it clearly also benefits from great camera equipment.

Gobbledygook is putting it mildly. Furthermore, surrendering control to the machine/camera completely contradicts Ayn Rand's objectivist ideals of man/photographer as heroic being who seeks his moral fulfillment in egotistical self-aggrandizement. If you know nothing about photography, please get at least your "philosophers" right.

I'm pretty sure he means video blogging, or "vlogging." Most spell checker/grammar checker/punctuation checker systems will not let you type "vlogging" without putting it in quotes!

The UHH spellchecker flags "mirrorless," but not "vlogging" (nor "blogging" for that matter)--with or without quotation marks. Furthermore, the UHH spellchecker does not autocorrect.

It's a known fact that mirrorless cameras are more susceptible to sensor dust than DSLRs--this isn't just a Sony problem. I carry a rocket blower in my camera bag that takes care of any dust on the sensor 99% of the time. In five years of using Sony mirrorless cameras I have done three wet cleanings. It is easy to do.

As I mentioned before, I love my Sony 100-400mm. I particularly like its versatility. I am attaching a few shots to show the versatility and quality of this lens. To me, a key advantage over the 200-600mm is the minimum focus distance of just over 3 feet, as opposed to about 8 feet for the 200-600. This means that you can use it as a macro lens. All the shots are hand-held.
