Hello to all. I'm the owner of a new Panasonic Lumix ZS 9 camera. Is there anybody that has a camera in this the series of camera? Example- ZS 7 - ZS 8- ZS 9, There are some TZ travel zoom series that are the same camera.
I'm really struggling to be able to use all of this camera. I've played with it. Taken a few pics, Have a brain fart at the shutter while trying to compose a shot. All thumbs!
Has anyone found a DVD or tutorial, or book to help learn all about this camera in a different learning manner? Or, Any book in regard to learning compact cameras? Thanks, Randy H. :-(

Hello to all. My name is Randy H. Been a lurker for a while now. I really enjoy all of you who post pics to see.
I'm really struggling with my current camera a Panasonic Lumix ZS 9. I'm working on the manual as we speak. Just wish that I could set the adobe reader to open up just one page and scroll to the next. I have two pages side by side. It makes it more difficult to read it this way. Any Ideas. Adobe reader X. Thanks Randy :)

jpy56, Here's a old trick from my astronomy days. Getting decent pictures of any type of deep sky means getting your camera and or sensor (CCD) to reach thermal equilibrium. This means getting the camera to accilmate to the outside air temp. Eq. Day temp is 75degrees. Night sky temp is 40 degrees. See the difference.
Find a big container and fill with ice. Find a container sized for the camera and put the dry camera container inside the larger container a allow the camera to "chill down". Yes it will take some time. Have all of your shooting set-up ready to go when you put the camera on the tripod. You won't have much time as things start to warm up!.
It's a way to get some very nice photos. I have more astronomy exp. than I do photos. I tried this a few days ago from my third floor apt. I didn't get any photos due to the CLOUDS! Ya gotta look out for them! Thanks, Randy H. :)

Panasonic Lumix ZS 9. I have one so new I'm still trying to get it outfitted to take with me everywhere. 14MP.16X +21X $129.. I'm not sure of the Amazon price now. It will fit in my chest pocket stripped down without the OP/ Tech neck strap and extensions. Case Logic camera case with two extra batteries and one extra battery charger. and one 32GB and One 8 GB. I just wanted to be prepared. I have not shot over two hundred pics yet. Working to get me dialed into the camera to use the thing.(weather). It shoots JPEG only. That can be changed in PS. I hope that All this helps. The next one up, Panasonic Lumix Lx (5). Way more money. $350. It won't fit your pocket but you get a bunch of camera Canon G 12 $$$$ Randy H :D

Hello and thanks to all that reply to my questions about 123di and the rest. The manual must have been written by a (?). Yes, I have looked it over. It left a lot left out. I do have one of Will Crockett DVD's point, shoot and share. A really nice dvd that for me must be watched more than once to (get it).
I saw some DVD's on Amazon by Tim Grey Video2learn. One in particular on exposure that I'm really considering buying. All of you kind folks have been very helpful. I will keep looking. I know there's something out there! Thanks, Randy H

Hello I'm Randy H a long time lurking quite member. I had a DVD by Karl Taylor of the UK. My friend who I loaned it to accidently put it in the trash can. I know Whoops! I just recently received a new video by Will Crockett, Point,Shoot, and Share on compact cameras. $25. It's a nice video to watch, However, I must watch it a few times in order to (get it)! This new video isn't bad, I just need more!

She has offered to pay for the lost video. I'd like to ask for your help in choosing a new teaching type of video that would be very good for me to really begin to learn all of the concepts as I can!

I'm considering a book and DVD's titled 123di from a fellow named (?) Bockeart. $70.. He's tied into dpreview. This thing is broken up into starter, mid-grade, and advanced levels. It's really a lot of material. 5500 pages or more. Has any one started and finished the whole thing and what did you think of it afterwards? I really want to begin this journey of finally getting it and having my pictures show it. I have a new Panny Lumix that shoots PASM and JPEG.
Thanks so much, Randy H :D

Hello, and Happy New Year's day. I'm curious as to anyone owning the Olympus xz-1 camera and how do you like it. Is it a difficult camera to learn to operate? I've just recently let go of my Canon g 12 due to neuropathy in my hands. I had the Canon for about six months. I'm really still a newbie to photography.
I used a neck strap and tether so as to not drop it. It had become big for me to just handle and use. I've read on dp review and other sites about these cameras My search started with a Canon S 95, Panasonic Lx 5, Olympus ZX 1. So far the reviews favor the Olympus Zx1.
Are there any Olympus ZX 1 owners here that would be kind enough to help me in my choice for my next camera? I really want to keep shooting. I appreciate any and all replys to help me choose a camera. Thanks. Randy H

I bought a refurbished canon g 12 from cameta camera on Ebay. It came in a "white" box and was marked refurbished on the outside of the box. Camera operates very good! No problems so far. I hope this helps to answer the question. Thanks, for your time, Randy H

Hello to all, I have a book and cd from short courses on the canon g12. In the beginning of the material it states that it would be important to have learned and understand the basics of the camera mechanics. What would be the best way to be able to do this, and where might I find such a place? I'm really an audio learner as compared to reading.
On their website they do offer other lessons, if you will. I'm just tying to really learn and understand all this camera has to offer. I'm starting to think and feel that maybe I have bought the wrong camera due to my inexperience.
Thanks for your time and help! Randy H. :(
