Dialects are great. But dialect is reserved to speak to those who understand the dialect. Otherwise, proper grammar and spelling denote that you paid attention in middle school or are willing to pay attention and learn later. If you are in sales or any occupation in which you need to communicate to the public, you cannot speak in a heavy dialect which the listener cannot understand. I don't think when you have to write reports at your job it's acceptable to use poor language skills, nor when you fill out your application, write any kind of paper or give any kind of information to the public. It will hold you back from being promoted...unless your boss is just as careless.

What I have noticed in the forum is a lot of people that resent to be corrected. I couldn't feel offended if some one correct me in the proper, positive way. From there to accept that is correct to be wrong... If no body correct you, how are you going to learn!!!!!

"I" is a subject. "Me" is an object. A guest speaker might begin: "Let me first thank the committee for inviting my wife and I." He is convinced that this is correct English, but what if the wife were not also in attendance? "Let me first thank the committee for inviting I." See the correct usage of these pronouns now?

let me thank the committe for inviting my wife and me; as you correctly stated, that phrase used it as an object (whom did he invite?)

The rule for English language use of "I" and "Me" have not changed. "I" is always used when the subject of a sentence, whether used as a singular or multiple subject, and "Me" is used when in a prepositional phrase.

I have not caught this error of usage on BBC broadcasts, but if this report of usage is true, it is solely the lack of intelligence of the user, reporter or speaker and not some drastic change in the english language.

indeed, it depends on in what part of the sentence it is used. If it's the subject, it's I, if it's the object it's me.

What bugs me is when people talk in the first person. "Ray is going to post a message on the UHH now. Ray is going to the fridge for a cold one.

that's talking in the third person when they mean to talk in the first person. I am going to the store is first person. Ray is going to the store is third person.

Agree. And the error started with a wrong state law that opens the door for unjustified homicide.

the cloud has its wonderful attributes, as you mentioned, but there are times the server or portal to it is shut down for maintenance, or your modem/router is malfunctioning and it might be at a time you absolutely must get something done on an ap you have on the cloud. Yeah, in the case of the modem, you can go to a WiFi hot spot outside of your home but that is inconvenient, time-consuming and not secure unless you have VPN.

none of you has factored in capital gains taxes which you incur on every sale the fund manager makes within the fund. You pay those taxes annually even though you are not selling any fund shares. You don't have those taxes to pay if you own the individual stock outright until you actually sell shares of that stock, whereas the constant trading of stock within the fund incurs capital gains tax and that is reported and paid wiith your tax return, thus must be subtracted from profits.

now, if only the teacher had taught some proper grammar as well: ...decide WHOM to marry.

The point is that this "czar" business is nothing new. It has been going on for decades by both parties.
The way it has been presented on this board is that Obama is the only one to do it and he is creating all of these new unprecedented bureaucracies. Simply not true. The sky is not falling as is implied.

It started with FDR, but appointments were moderate until GWB and Obama.

Obama created 23 NEW czardoms and re-opened 4 that were stopped under previous pesidents. Plus eleven that Bush started and Obama continued.
GWB started 30 new ones but stopped 16 of them before his term was up.
Obama is less than 5 years in office, so cannot compare to 8 yrs of Bush just yet.
