This is from where I live. Sarnia Ontario Canada by the Bluewater bridge leading to Port Huron [USA], however both my parents are from Belgium near Antwerp & I was born 9 mths to the day of the half way crossing on there way to Canada in '57.

Hay Ronny, I was born in Liverpool but came to Antwerp for my work and finished up marrying a local girl. Belgium has its lovely bits but I think you bagged the best bit of the world.

There you go.............

If ice can have that effect on tree stumps in a couple of days it is not hard to figure out why Yosemite Valley looks the way it does. For me there is a weird 3D effect with some of those ice blocks on the main wall, they look as if they are stuck to a clear filter in front of the lens. There again it is probably just me. I like the points of interest in this simple winter scene.

Thanks Ted, a compliment from you is always appreciated.
On a personal note, how did the son's birthday go?

This photograph has been nagging at me and now I know why. It reminds me very much of the style of a photographer called Serge Anton. He specializes in high contrast shots of African and Asian peoples, usually in strong side lighting conditions to bring out the character in their faces. Here are some examples of his work.

So now you can take your place amongst the famous.

Both are good ones, like them

Thanks Jeff, I like the subjects too but I have blasted the dynamic range a bit in the first one. Even though I have the tools at my disposal histograms and grab shots don't always go together. They should but that is not always the way street works, unfortunately. I still think they were worth putting up, pleased you liked them.

There is a face full of character and such fine detail. I only wish you had put it for download. Tremendous shot.

What is the guy standing on? Or is he 7 feet tall?

Great shots.

With a woman like that to look at he is floating on air. Thanks Stephan.
(Secretly he said he had a trick with the tripod but he would not tell me what it was)

Thanks John, appreciated. That is a bit of a serious tripod that is imposing on the main subject.

Ah, which one has the more interesting photo?
I wonder if he has heard of Koo Stark? It is a long time ago now but she was a former girlfriend of the British Prince Andrew. She used to carry a P&S camera around with her and take pictures of the paperazzi that followed her everywhere she went.
