We have a family of Red Hawks near us and I've had a great time trying to catch them in flight in just the right light but without a ton of success. The other morning though, the robins were really kicking up a fuss. When I went out and looked, I found that one of the hawks was sitting in the top of a big pine tree on the edge of our yard. All around him were robins, clearly displeased with him. I didn't realize it but it's obviously a nesting tree.
Eventually he must have decided that they weren't worth the trouble and flew home. About a dozen robins chased him.

Oh so grand! It is so difficult to pick out just one, as they are all great. There is something that calls to me in Pic #1 and also in the last one.
Ok, I'll bite. What and where is the Palouse. I'm new to Washington and still finding my way around.
Thanks for these wonderful shots.
Sam

The Palouse is a farming area. I’ve seen beautiful spring and fall pictures taken there generally at either sunrise or sunset. You can Google it. I still have t made it myself, thanks to this year’s shut-down.

Nice set Sally - I’d probably pick the last one. Am curious what lens you used. We occasionally drive down to Goldendale to see my wife’s sister and we usually see them but feel like I need a helicopter to get out to them let alone with the lenses I have.

This is no doubt a tardy response and if I’m repeating myself, I apologize. I use Canon 100 - 400 mm L iii lease, usually wide open. I just got a 1.4 extender for it but haven’t really had a chance to try it out yet.

I was born and grew up in the Yakima valley and spent many wonderful days on the reservation visiting friends
and relatives there. Picking berries near Mt. Adams and camping out were particularly memorable. The wild horses were like phantoms and ran whenever we got near. I never thought of taking pictures then and though we had a camera in the family my mother took all the pictures.
These photos are magnificent Sally. I also lived in Arizona for years and visited the Navajo reservation many times, I don't remember ever seeing a wild horse.

Hi Ratskinner. I was raised on a homestead near Vantage. When we drove to Portland, I always saw the horses but never realized they were wild. We almost hit one one the highway one night! All of that was way before Igot hooked on photography. In Arizona, the best place to see the horses is the Salt River not far from Mesa. Those horses are pretty desensitized. . .not so with the Yakama horses.
