If tilt screen is important, go with the 5300. I have it and the screen helps in taking photos of my grandsons. I don't have to constantly kneel down at their level.
I recently purchased Luminar. It is a nice extension for Photos on my Mac.
Oh, I decided to go with the Nikon 10-24 DX. I bought it used on BH Video. I've always had Nikon lenses and decided to continue the trend. But thanks for all the advice!
I have decided to with the Tokina 11-20 and will purchase at BH. Thanks all!
I keep hearing the name Tokina. Although I would like to get a Nikon, the price point may be the deciding favor. I am going to look into the Tokina 11-20.
Thank you for the responses. I will check out the lenses mentioned and make my decision.
I have a Nikon D5300 and need to purchase a wide angle to take interior photos of homes. I want to make sure that whatever lens I use does not distort the images of the photos. Any advice?
I had two Danes. Fawn and Black. Lots of great memories of them.
I have the 5300 and love it. The articulating screen was a big seller for me. My daughter has the 3400. Great price at Costco Black Friday for $500 with many accessories. She does not use the Bluetooth Snapfish. There has been issues with this but it wasn't a factor for her. I have Wifi in the 5300. Works fine but I barely use it. Oh, and the 3400 is very light if that is a factor you want to consider.
That being said I don't see much difference in quality of our photos. Biggest difference was price. I have never bought a refurbished camera but after reading articles on this website, I would certainly consider it in the future.
Good luck!

I agree. Zion, Bryce, and Grand Canyon a must. Try Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument. We went four wheeling there. Beautiful scenery. Went at end of August.
I have the D5300, and it is an excellent camera. I wasn't interested in the touch screen, but I love the flip screen.
What a great trip. I have been four times and it is so beautiful there. Definitely visit Schoodic Peninsula, at high tide if possible. Sand Beach to Otter Point has an easy coastal trail that is quite scenic. Cadillac Mtn at sunrise or sunset is lovely. Bar Harbor has a short scenic coastal walk - nice little town. Stop at Jordan Pond for popovers and tea. I believe there is a trail around the pond, too. I was there last August. Weather was perfect.

I used to own the Nikon cool pix P510. It was a great camera but after four years I sold it and upgraded to the D5300.
