Not sure if I replied to this or nor so...

I just rented the Tamron 150-600 loved it.
Not to say the equivalent sigma is not good - I hear it is great!

Key thing for me was renting allowed me to try the focal length - and in turn the brand - which will help my ultimate purchase decision.

Small price to verify significant purchase

I realize this is a photo group - but seems we digress so hopefully this is not out of line.

Decided to move a Wii to Liv room flat screen. Naturally out if analog rca type connectors on flat screen. - and Wii only has analog rca's.

So thought about converting it to HDMI -
Seems to be two types
- one that you have rca inputs and hdmi outs - could connect anything analog.
- the other eliminates the analog rca cable by plugging directly into the Wii (replacing the cable with this adater) then using a hdmi cable from the Wii to the flat screen.

Has anyone done this? How did it work?
My techie side says the unit that plugs into the Wii would be best. - thoughts.

Each is only about $15 each

Thanks

I carry a "blade" about 99% of the time I'm out.
The type, and number, depends on situation and area.
Wet stone seems to be best - but newer blades seem hard to keep an edge

If you are referring to the random picture changing in win 10 (& 8) desktop - looked into that too - hoping to have it focus on a single folder - NOPE.
Only way to stop this is to turn off the "live tile" option for the "picture" tile. (Right click on tile - de-select live tile)
If that's not what you were asking - sorry - good luck

Good luck - I'm a Nikon shooter - but can give you some 3rd items I'm looking at - Tamron 15-600 is my non-Nikon contender at the moment.

But what I really wanted to share was perhaps you should consider renting a lens first. Obviously not sure where you and your wife are in what you want to shoot - how much you want to carry etc - but making that step from "kit" lens to big glass can bring other challenges - other than cost.

There are a few rental company's out there - I use Borrowlens.com and have been very happy with them - I used them 4-5 times. Great selection - very good customer service. I'm in a somewhat rural area and it makes it easy to try good glass. That's how I'll be getting the Tamron I menitoned above (they carry most manufacturers in a variety of focal lengths)

You are absolutely RIGHT! I'm in KFalls with Family in the Portland area - so much to shoot and enjoy all across this state. By your picture I think you might be a whale fan? We hit Depoe Bay as often as we can to go out with Carrie on the zodiacs.

Very nice work - you're on your way!
Picture of the vase - two comments - shadow/reflection control - I find the dark spot reflections on the two tall vases distracting - find myself looking for what caused them - LOL
Western themed restaurant - good tonal range - but for me I find the shadows on the edge of the picture frames distracting - at least in the tone they are - the shelf on the right -might have been better to crop it out. - but again that's me.
The others - only thing I can say is GREAT! - love them

I have to agree with the previous comment - heading East from Portland you'll miss some of the most beautiful parts of Oregon - the coast.
If this is your first trip out here (missed where you live now) yu really should try to see Crater Lake National Park - the lake is absolutely stunning! It is in a Volcanic crater and only fed by rain and snow - no streams feed the lake so it is very clear.

The area I live in. Southern Oregon, has a lot of birds to shoot - we are on the North - South migratory path for birds - at the moment the area is filling with Bald Eagles.

If you are hitting Portland in the spring you might hit the Cherry Blossom time - lots of cherry trees along the river front.

If you haven't nailed down your flight you might look at coming into Medford Oregon - it's about an hour from Crater Lake - then can either backtrack to the coast - work your way up to Portland -400 miles - then head to Idaho. Or head to Idaho from Crater Lake - route will take you into Boise - long route. So many choices.

If you're in the Portland area you should hit Multnomah Falls - beautiful - a bit over shot and usually (during peak times) crowded - but worth it.

If you're a WWII buff - in Portland Harbor there is the ONLY resotred operational PT boat in the country - you may be able to get a tour. Just google PT658.

So much to see - so little time - LOL - feel free to post any questions

Good Morning All,

I've been looking at this forum for a while and finally decided to join and contribute myself

I'm in Southern Oregon - about as close to the California Border as you can get. Crater Lake is just an hour away to plenty of photo opportunities around here.

I've been a shooter since grammar school - yeah that's what we called it them - so yeah been through film days, darkroom work, variety of formats and transitioned to digital.

Currently shoot with a crop sensor Nikon and a couple of budget lenses - learning the Adobe suite at the moment.

Have a great day
Tom
