Could the camera be set to back button focus
which uses the AF/AE small button on the rear of your camera.
Settings in the menu allow it to be set this way and
many photographers prefer it to control focusing.

It may be simply setting to Single point focus.
It looks like your camera is focusing on the trees
and not the buildings.
Either that or use longer exposure and change to a
much higher aperture to get all in focus.
I use back button focus. Now when I have my camera set to single Point Continuous mode
do I have to hold the back button in while there is movement or does the camera follow the
subject ? Would I press BB and release and let the camera automatically follow the subject
or hold in until I press shutter ?
