-------------my response to you-----------

I was involved in a high-speed auto accident in November 2015 (the result of another driver disregarding a red light). I sustained a traumatic brain injury that disrupts my life still today. I fractured my neck and needed a 3-level cervical fusion surgery last year and am waiting for a surgery date right now for another level to be fused. I've been to the doctor at least twice a week, spent 3 months out of work entirely and another 8 able to work only four hours a day. I take muscle relaxers and narcotic pain medication daily. I need to take regular breaks and need to stop work often because of cognitive fatigue. My brain actually shuts off if I push too hard...very weird feeling, sort of like when a limb falls asleep and you're powerless to make it react no matter how hard you try.....

......and I work full-time as an ACAT-II program manager for the Air Force. I'm extremely fortunate to have a flexible, trusting and supportive chain of command....but I've also proven my worth and earned my trust.

Is it hard? Absolutely. Am I permanently injured? Yes....I'm not the person I was before. I can't perform at the same level. Do I want to give up almost every day? Absolutely. Is it rewarding? You bet your bottom dollar. Could get disability? Probably, yes. Would I? Not in a million years....as long as I have anything to say about it.

We all have our crosses. We can find a way to bear them.

ETA...the job I have now is not the one I had when I got into the accident. The crash happened on the way home from work on my last day....I'd just quit that job for another. It would be another year before I started in the one I'm in now. Two different jobs. Two different flexible employers. One hired me before the accident, but worked with my limitations. The second hired me despite knowing I'd need special treatment.

I applaud you and I'm not at all being sarcastic as I'm pecking this. When I hear stories such as yours I question myself, but then I have to remind myself we are all individuals. Although your injuries sound much worse than mine and I'm sure on some level they are, we are all different, we wound differently and definitely heal differently. I do have a great number of physical limitations and as with you I take muscle relaxers and narcotic painkillers daily. (Unfortunately for me I'm allergic to nsaids: ibprofin, lyrica, toroidal, ultram so I'm stuck on what pain meds I can take for relief) You've been lucky though, finding two employers willing to work with you. I looked for work with and slightly off the edge of my restrictions and haven't been so lucky. My last employer where this attack took place wouldn't take me back because I wouldn't be able to do therapeutic crisis intervention, the ability to break up a fight between boys.

I guess we could chalk it up to two different areas of the country, two varying wounds, two different mind sets, any number of reason and we could banter until we're blue in the face, we'll most likely never agree about collecting insurance payments. In my position, I had no choice...I needed the money. I do respect your opinion and the decisions you made especially because you felt them right for you. I also must respect my decisions otherwise I'll spend a lifetime wondering what did I miss, could I had fought another way and won.

So, are you saying that you are against illegal aliens getting social security payments? That went on under Obama to the tune of billions per year and I can't say that I ever noticed you saying squat about that. Then again, none of the Democrats in Congress had much to say either.

If someone is here illegally and has or has not been paying into SS they should absolutely NOT receive benefits. First of all: they are here illegally which in itself is a crime, Secondly: if they have been paying into a SS account without ensuring their citizenship prior then they only have themselves to blame (go into any DMV, library, post office, State office Building, etc and the appropriate information and forms are readily available). Although I'm a liberal I do share some conservative views and opinions, personally I feel strongly against illegal immigration. Where our similarities end most likely are with travel bans, not permitting grandparents, certain relatives, and other family members into the country bothers me great. (We are a nation often of alternating family dynamics and that must be taken into consideration when implementing such bans when including who will be permitted in and who will be turned away.) Well there are my two cents, one liberals feelings in regard to illegal immigration. But, in all honesty, what you or I think will be of little interest in another 20 years because we will have two new leaders bidding for the White House with their own agendas very different from todays. I can be sure of one thing, whatever the issues might be, republicans and democrats will find them selves forever divided, how silly, immature or childish the topic is, someone will be called out on it.

Thank you, I think. 🙂

What can you expect from bunch of losers like thier hero.

Thank you all...my heros. I loved it when I opened the post and it wasn't me against them, it was me and a true showing of friendship and minds who think more alike than differently. Also, minds who think intellectually rather than subhuman. People who think prior to typing rather than spewing homophobic, racists, bigoted, unrelated mumbo-jumbo when they either don't know how to answer the previous respondent or doesn't understand the words being used.
Thanks again, Laura

That's the best you've got...you need to look inward and see who's spewing hate and very loudly. How about toning it down. Or, are you the type of juvenile man who can't have someone, anyone speak unflattering truths about the President. I honestly don't care if he makes it one year, four years, or eight years, he will be a blubbering liar throughout. Also, each twitter rant will continue to be entered into the archives for future generations to reach their own opinions regarding our fake news,"bigly" lying President. I hope you don't have children or grandchildren who will one day be required study all aspects of #45. The good, the bad and the ugly, yes even things you might not believed happened or will most likely happen.

Why is it so hard for Trump to give credit where credit is due, work with what he's been given and rather than lie about it continue on the positive spin. Jobs and the economy, Trump could say what he's done or lack there of of performing could have helped the job rates and the economy, but no, he has to focus on how he inherited a strong economy and job market without any aid from our former president. Read the following...

Trump Throws Tantrum And Begs The Media To Give Him Credit For Obama’s Economy

Trump Throws Tantrum And Begs The Media To Give Him Credit For Obama’s Economy

As Donald Trump continues to crumble under the pressure of being President of the United States and being unable to handle the criticism that comes with the job, he took to Twitter on Monday to tout the strong economy he inherited from Barack Obama and beg the media to give him credit for it.

Tweets:

The strong stock market and steadily low unemployment numbers would be something to tout if they weren’t good before Trump took office – but this is the economy the 45th president inherited. Since he hasn’t passed a single, substantive piece of policy in his first six months, he has nothing to brag about.

It would be another story if Trump had taken office in the midst of a financial collapse and was able to implement policies that helped prevent a Great Depression and lay the groundwork for sustained growth and near full employment – that would be something to tout – but Barack Obama already did that heavy lifting before handing it off to Trump in January.

Ultimately, this is just the latest attempt by the child-in-chief to change the subject after receiving widespread backlash for the vulgar tweets he’s posted this week, most notably those directed at MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski.

After six months of failed policy proposals, unprecedented scandals, and a deteriorating mental state, the Trump train has gone completely off the rails.

Excellent point! Trump is a coward. I'll bet that as a punk kid he hired bigger punks to beat up little kids. Even now I'd bet that he'd refuse to "Step out back and settle this man to man" without taking his bully boys with him. Corey Lewandowski comes to mind. Whatta he-man!

CHICAGO -- The Fourth of July weekend is off to a violent start, CBS Chicago reports.
At least six people were killed and dozens of others wounded in shooting incidents as the city headed into Monday morning. Among the wounded is the son of a Cook County judge in what Chicago Police have dubbed a gang related shooting.

And in New Orleans there were 13 people shot, 2 dead, 11 wounded Saturday night...there has been violence throughout the country this weekend. I get your point because of Chicago's noted homicide rates increasing daily, but it's not just isolated to Chicago. We must not forget or ignore those who die daily who are lucky or unlucky enough to live outside of Illinois.

It certainly doesn't seem as if you have the "opinion of many" at the present time, but the opinion of many here seems to be you've hit that slippery slope called libel. Too bad you've already shown your hand.
