Hi there,
Just read your message and if you would contact me via PM I may be able to help you out with a couple of lenses!
Hello from GA! Enjoy the site and have fun taking photos! I live on the east side! Welcome!
Beautiful photos! Love the hummers and the butterflies. Most of the hummers that come to our feeders are mostly gone now😕
Beautiful photo of the hummer! Crystal clear!!
[quote=kamrakid]Needing lens advice for friend with D7100. Shoots primarily landscape, casual people photos, travel, some small kid sports, and flower macros. I'm thinking a nifty-50 or similar for portraits & macro, and maybe a Nikon 18-200VR, Sigma 18-250VR, or Tamron 18-270VR for most of her other shots.
She does a greeting card ministry with her photos -- just adds a bit of text and prints mostly 4x6. Occasional 11x14 prints, too, so no need for extreme enlargement or cropping. So she's just needing a nice, acceptable quality lens whose weight won't break her neck while traveling.
She's moving to Nikon from Canon (her decision -- so we don't need to get into that debate right now) so she has no other lenses. Budget is $200 or so for the 50mm or similar, and up to $400 for the 18-???. Good used or refurbished equipment is fine with her.
What would be your specific lens suggestions for her??? THANKS!!![/quote
I have a Tamron LD 28-200mm 3.8-5.6 for a Nikon. I own a Nikon D7100 and all of my lens are DX and I just do not want to use a full frame lens. The lens is very clean with not scratches or slippage. I won it in an auction not knowing it was a full frame. It will work on the D7100. Your friend is welcome to the lens and if she likes it all I ask is that I be reimbursed for the postage. I can send it out once once you or she tells me that it will be accepted. Please PM will the name and mailing address. I go on this auction site and I get some very good deals most of the time. The Tamron are easy to find and I have several of them for my D5100 as well. I admit I am a camera junkie and always looking for a good deal. You can also txt me at 770-597-2681 and let me know you are inquiring about the lens. It has no caps on either end and there is no dirt or dust seen on it. I have kept it in bubble wrap boxed up ready to send to one lucky person. My name is Pat and I am a retired Air Force medic!
It looks like they are having sales quite frequently. This is the 3rd such sale since July. I missed their 1st sale and I bought my husband a Panasonic LUMIX DMC FZ70 60x for and even better price from an auction site. It was brand new in the box for $103!! Was happy because I paid twice that much for the FZ70 I purchased for myself! I am a camera junkie! LOL!
Canon's website has the refurbished SX50 on sale for $149.99 and free shipping until 26 Sept 2015! A great deal and they are great bridge cameras! I love mine!
Spent 6 1/2 years here Apr 91- Oct 97! Got a chance to do a wedding in this same structure! It is really beautiful and a highly photographed attraction!!
That is an awesome deal! I bought mine new and paid more than twice that amount! I just sent the info to my niece in NY since she loves photography and currently shoot with the T3i! Thanks for the info!!
Just read an email that Canon has the refurbished T5 with the 18-55 kit lens on sale for $249.99 until the 29th of Aug! Anyone looking to start out in photography and has a budget of a few hundred dollars this is a real good bargain! Good luck!just go to Canon's website!!!

To all the Veterans who are actually hogs. I recognize some of the Hogs are Vets by their byline or avatar. Rather than saying thanks to the few I can recognize I thought I would thank all the vets who are Hogs. If not for you none of us would be here talking about photos, etc. I chase you down in parking lots, restaurants, etc. when you may where a hat identifying yourself or still in uniform.
Thank You All for your service.
