I had done a clean install of Win10, and it worked for a few months. I forget what the exact problem was, but basically, the computer didn't work. The shop said that the BIOS was messed up and Windows was, too. He wiped the drive and installed Win10 after installing Win7. Of course, he could have told me that the air in my house wasn't compatible with this version of Windows. That's why I hate bringing anything to a "pro" to be repaired. For $150, I have an unregistered copy of Win10. If I bring it in and leave it, he'll find out what the "problem" is and charge me again. Then it will work for another few weeks. I'm hesitant to try installing Win10 again.

Meanwhile, my newer Dell XPS 8500 connects to the Web sporadically - maybe all day or maybe five minutes.

With Volume Licensing, is he allowed to install Win10 on multiple machines?

He probably doesn't have "volume licensing" I don't, but I do get a discount when I buy certain components from a authorized Microsoft reseller, like a motherboard.
I feel your pain. I have fixed so many computers for people took them to a "shop" and got ripped off.
Win 10 is way tricky to install, it's not like the Win 95 days when I just had a drive (legal) that I could clone over with everything pre installed, boom done.
If you need help PM me and I'll see what I can do.
For the Dell XPS try a different network adapter, maybe a USB to see if it stays connected. Substitution is sometimes the only way to figure things out.
I just spent about a year with COX trying to figure out my internet connection. Had 38 technicians here to no avail, turned out to be the NIC amongst other things.
PS I read all your posts, have for a long time, your a smart guy, you'll figure it out.

I make my living working on PC's
I charge labor to install win 10, mainly to transfer the customers data, but I don't charge for the OS. Unless the customer want's a retail boxed version.
Every win 10 install I've done has been legal and registered with MS.

Such a piece of shit website, let me ask, did they report on the reimbursement to Hillary for the Secret Service flying on her jet? I think that were these people actually interested in journalism that they would report on that one way or the other so that we could understand the full story and balance Trumps actions against what others in the same situation do. Are there laws in existence that require Trump to bill the government just as there are laws that required his campaign to pay of the use of his own properties? This story is interested in only one thing, and that is slamming Trump this is hardly a reliable news source.

The police had no interest in him until they saw him get out of the car, supposedly with a gun. There was no stop. I don't suppose we'll ever get the whole story. Each side has too much invested in its own position.

If you check the news, the cops were looking for a fugitive at that address

"Just before 4 PM on Tuesday, police fatally shot Keith L. Scott at a Charlotte, North Carolina, apartment complex while attempting to serve a warrant to another man."
