So, do you generally use the VC when on a gimbal since it moves?

No, I never use image stabilization for any moving subject that requires me to move my camera as well. Especially not when a tripod or monopod etc. is in use ( that goes for hand holding as well). The only time I use any, is when shooting stationary objects, while hand holding the camera!

I rarely use any other section in UHH, but having to follow the 'Register Now' instruction, and being led up a blind-alley, is becoming a bit of a bore.. Anybody know of a reason for this Faux RE-REGISTERING.?

Well, I have no idea what you are talking about!

Question: To use printer mfg. made ink or generic ink? What has your experience been?

I have always used the mfg. made inks and only those. And there would never be a reason for me not to do so anymore, because I'm perfectly happy with the results I'm getting and I can rely on that. So for me, I do not take any chances! I know those inks and I know what a print will look like before its printed and I can make adjustments, so they will turn out the way I want them to look like and I always count and rely on that!

The attached Photo is one of my grand daughter walking in a flood ravaged area down by the Mississippi.

She is cut from a different pic and is trying to make it look like she is there, but, to me, it looks kinda fake. Pasted on (which is what she is. I tried feathering the edges of her, and using a refine tool but I am not satisfied. If anyone has experience with this technique would appreciate your advice.
I use Affinity and ON1 to edit.

One reason this will never look believable is the lighting, it is different. When inserting subjects into other images, one has to pay attention to the overall lighting of both, to see if they could be a good match!

I think that's exactly what's missing, I do not like it because it lacks creativity!

I guess most of us don't watch his video but this latest one is really a dumb one.

I don't think it is really dumb, just another way of thinking, so if he likes it, he should use it, but I for sure would not adopt to this/his "new wording", because to me there is just no need for it. There is simply nothing confusing about any of it (as he claimes) but why complicated now by trying to change it? That certainly would make it confusing to most people!

I just bought a Vello remote release to use on my Nikon D5600. So far I have not found many posts or comments in UHH on this device. If anyone has experience using one of these devices I would appreciate hearing from them as to the performance, techniques, etc.. I plan to use it primarily for taking photos of birds around my feeders and for family group pictures at the beach this summer, in both instances the camera will be on a tripod.

I have several Flashpoint Wave Commanders (which I believe are made by Vello). I've used them for a bit over seven years on a daily basis, so while cheap, reliability is great ( had not one misfire in all those years! I use them for that too, bird feeders etc. all those things I can't be all the time, so I trigger my cameras and/or flashes from far away. So, in all, I have been a happy camper with them!

I followed Scott Kelby’s method of setting up Lightroom. I made all my folders in my catalog into collection sets and within the set 3 collections full shoot, picks, selects. I have 10-12 folders IE Family, Travel, Wildlife, Architecture etc within each folder are more specific sub folders. My collections mirror my folder structure .
I am having trouble getting my newly imported photos into my respective collections . Open to all suggestions

Thanks
Joe

In a previous topic where an O.P. asked what the best editing program was, a well respected and knowledgeable member said:

“ Lightroom is a good solution for editing raw and cataloging - and for processing 100s or 1000s of images at a time - but it does not and cannot turn out a finished image, at least not by creative director standards.“

This made me stop and wonder, since I don’t use Photoshop, why are my images that I mostly edit in Lightroom, with an occasional use of Nik filters or once in a while PS Elements, not finished? Of course, my standards don’t have to pass a creative director’s desk, so I simply edit to my own taste, but I’m wondering what more would I need to do in Photoshop, since apparently Lightroom “cannot turn out a finished image.”

An image is finished, whenever you feel its finished, no matter in what program it was processed!

I used them for a good twenty years, and I really like them (much higher quality cut compared to new movers)!

I am somewhat interested in a Canon Mirrorless system, but I am a bit concerned about their lens offerings. It appears from the information that I have been able to read that the full frame bodies use the RF series lenses and the ASP-C bodies use the EF-M series lenses (please correct me if I'm wrong here). While there are adapters to mount the EF & EFS lenses on their mirrorless bodies (which is important to me), there is apparently no compatibility between the EF-M and the RF lenses, adapter or otherwise. I find this concerning, because I would prefer to stay with a crop sensor body to be able to use lenses I already own.

All in all, Canon's recent focus appears to be on the full frame models and I have my doubts if there will ever be much more development for the EF-M series of lenses, which is rather lacking in my opinion. I also think that their newer ASP-C models are moving more toward deluxe Point & Shoot models rather than for serious photography. Case in point is the M6 II, which does have some impressive specs, but lacks the built-in Electronic Viewfinder needed to make it a serious option, at least for me. They have also discounted the M5 considerably, which gives me the impression of a sell off prior to discontinuation and this model appears to be the top of the line in crop sensor mirrorless bodies if one wants a built in EV. All in all, a confusing marketing direction in my eyes.

Anyway, I would be interested in others viewpoint about Canon's direction with their Mirrorless lens and/or body offerings, prior to my jumping in with both feet. As it stands, I'm thinking that the EF-M series is in trouble and don't wish to buy into a dying system. Maybe, I should just save my money until I can afford an RP system or better and unfortunately that might be quite awhile on a fixed income. However, if I can't use my current EF-S lenses on a full frame sensor model, there's no real reason to stick with Canon anyway (at least as far as mirrorless is concerned). Seems like they've may have shot themselves in the foot on this one, at least for me. Good luck and good shooting to all.

Canon just released two new EF-M lenses recently ( When the R was intoduced, so the M-line is not totally forgotten)!

Not so much the price but my need. A friend has a portable blind that he uses for bird and wildlife photography. The specs he gave me are 60" x 60" floor space, 78" high. 4 zippered windows. Says he paid $60, will sell to me for $30 as he does not use it. I live in a retirement community and can't use it here. Most of the birds and animals are in local parks and state parks, and rural areas. I am just wondering if you folks think this would be a worthwhile investment? I haven't seen it yet but he says it is in perfect condition. Knowing him as I do he is most certainly telling the truth. I have not checked with any parks or other areas to see if this is permissible. I have not seen one in use at any of the places I regularly visit. Thanks.

Yeah, for that price it's a steal! Most units that size sell for around $600!
