I can only think that your Mother must have been frightened by a Nikon Camera when you were inutero.

Now that is funny! Thanks for the laugh!!

I too like both versions, B&W and color. The different compositions of both are nice too... maybe liking the first one a tad better.

Thanks Vince, I completely agree with you, the color shot was a documentation of the new fence, and a request of the ranch manager. I composed it the best I could but had the feeling that I could do much better if I concentrated on the whole scene and basically let the fence take care of it's self. It looked better to me so I went ahead and converted it to sepia.

The first shot is more balanced visually and graphically. The coloration in the second one offers new perspective.

Thanks for taking time to really look at the images and to share your thoughts. If others didn't do this we would never learn. Very much appreciated!

Nice. I like both versions; perhaps the angle on the first shot is a bit better, but not by much. Happy to see the old fellow restored.

Thank you John, I agree with your assessment on the angle. The original thought/purpose was to document the sight but the extreme rural area invited a little composition and critique, and maybe a chance to learn. Again, much appreciated my friend!

According to rumor, this old barn was scheduled to be torn down, along with the house and outbuildings. I kept
an eye on the old place, and over eighteen years nothing happen except the images that I snapped.
This year I got word that the old house was torn down and they were restoring the barn. I made a quick trip and checked it out.

The Nikon 16-80mm f/2.8-4 DX and Nikon 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6 DX are both ones to look at. The 16-80mm f/2.8-4 replaced the 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6 but it's overpriced and has a lower build quality than the older 16-85mm. I have two of the previous 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6 DX lenses. It's sharp, is very solidly built, and has one-half the distortion of Nikon's superzoom lenses. I use them on a Nikon D7500 and D500. There are still some new ones available. Amazon has some new ones.

I bought the Df new in the Spring of 2014, the only Nikon camera I have bought new in the many decades I have used Nikons. It is reminiscent of the great old film Nikons and as you probably know, has the same sensor as the D4. I have been extremely pleased with results from it, and whatever other kit I put together for travel, the Df goes along. I have used lenses from pre AI to the newest easily and interchangeably. Favorites are the 24-85, 24-120, and 50 1.8 I got with the camera. I chose silver instead of black based on film era experience, no matter how careful I was, black cameras eventually show a little brassing. The only issues I have had with the camera are some finish wear on the corners of the base plate and the right hand front rubber covering coming loose. Nikon replaced the rubber - though it took a while for them to get parts. It isn't there now, but Roberts had one in good condition for less than $1300 within the last few days, so prices are coming down. I like the camera well enough that I might buy a black one at the right price. I'm pretty sure you would enjoy using the camera and be pleased with the images it delivers.

While I agree with your statement, it is a little bit incomplete. It is the only Nikon digital camera that was hand assembled from machined parts, in house, in Japan. Also it not only has the same sensor as the D4, it also has the same processor. It is one of the most trouble free digital camera's the company has produced to date. It is also interesting that most of the negative statements about the camera are made by those that have never owned or used one.
