Without knowing what you are using. it's rather hard to say anything, but a wild stab in the dark I would say that your ISO is too high. If you want them to appear closer you will need a longer lens, like a 200 mm or better.

Hi tramsey, im using a fuji finepix s9600 bridge camera 10. 7 optical zoom. I think my iso was set at 200 for this photo. :? pip

Hello everyone, I went for a walk along the beach today to take pics of seagulls. I dont normally take bird pics as,
1, I dont think my camera is up to it, "cant get close enough"
2, I dont think im up to it.
Believe it or not this is the best bird photo I have taken ever, and its not that good. I decided to post this to show how good, your bird photo's are, most of them stunning, amazing and any other word that describes some of our members photographs. C&C always welcome, because Ive got a long way to go. It was blowing a gail today and I took the photo hand held, Ive cropped it, first ever post edit too. Ive put both versions for you to compare. thanks everyone. :? pip

When a male bird can't stand it anymore!
Priceless shot! One in a million!!!

A photographer will die of old age waiting to get another shot like this one.

Keep Laughing. Best medicine for the heart and the mind.

That was one of a series posted on the Internet. Incredible one-in-a-million shots. Here are a few more:

You're definitely on the right track. I love the look of black branches in winter against the sky.
Perhaps correcting the exposure in the center and not cropping quite so closely. More is more in this case. Love the "solitude" shot. A bit of cropping to place the bird in the top left third or top right third would have more impact.

Thanks! It was my intention to offset the subject, I'll keep in mind more left or right.

Photo taken in Gunzeried, Bavaria, Germany. Every spring they take their cows up the mountain where they graze all summer long, then in September they bring them back down and in this pic they are on their way down.
The town is set up with food and beer tents, lots of good beer, Brat, tortes etc. They really celebrate for a couple days. Some really fun loving people

Nice shot klaesser

The first image is a HDR comprised of 5 photos processed through Photomatix. These were taken handheld using a Nikon D800e
The second image is a cropped enlargement of the lightpost from the center.
I submit these to address the concerns of many that have said that the D800 should only be used from a tripod.

Can you show the 5 shots you used to compose the finished composition :?:  pip
