Works for me. I was wondering what you said, tho', about the "natural ornaments". What were they made of, shells?
Thank you carlysue. Natural materials used where things readily found in the environment. Popular were shells (both from the sea and from huge land snails), polished pieces of bone, animal hair (particularly the very coarse hair from the tip of the elephant's tail), ivory, animal teeth and pieces of metal from Arab traders and early European explorers. Anything a little unusual, colourful or different was prized...I've even seen bits from a very old wind-up gramophone. Many of these objects where woven into the hair or strung on string made from animal hair or various types of coarse vegetation. I've been fortunate to see some of these priceless artifacts in a small museum in Nairobi and in private collections. :-P
