Oh you have my sympathy. I am not stupid by any means. I got so frustrated at books and tutorials. I would be going along fine, and suddenly the writer would assume you understood some basic of photoshop intuitively, that clearly I never encountered, and the tutorial would completely skip over steps, and I would be lost. Paint in white, paint in black, what??? Where did that come from?
I love Photoshop Essentials.com. They just make sense.
All I can say now is, "multiply" under the layers menu-where have you been my whole life?

I love my progressives BUT !!! I asked my eye doctor for glasses made just for using my laptop. I took it with me and she measured how far away I place the screen. My prescription is just for use with the computer so I was able to get the cheapest glasses Costco offers (no antiglare, etc).
When I put them on as I use the computer my brain goes "ahhhhh!" My eyes relax, I don't adjust the head…I LOVE them!

You answered my question and I appreciate it. My husband wanted to order it this minute and I needed a quick answer!

Yes, it will work.

If you want more information, it may make sense to start your own topic, and you will get lots of feedback from people who are interested in your question and not the sensor size question. You can also check the True Macro section.

Slightly different question but you seem like the group to ask. You have lost me to a point, so that's probably a good sign you are all very smart!

I am looking at purchasing a used Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG Medium Telephoto Macro Lens for Canon SLR Cameras. It says it is made for full frame cameras but I have a Canon 60D. Will it work? My husband wants to use it for Macro photography.

I have a Canon 60D and so does my daughter. Her photos weren't sharp. She contacted Canon and it was a known problem. She sent it in and it's fine now. (Not saying that there isn't another problem here.)

The Medina River looks like a Thomas Kincaid painting. Very pretty.

Well, you all have convinced me that I do, desperately need to replace my kit 18-200 lens (which I've enjoyed since I seem to attract bad weather and hate switching lenses.) But I love big prints!

I've enjoyed reading all of your helpful posts. When I actually start shopping for a lens I get overwhelmed with the choices until I finally give up! Your thoughtful responses might get me to pull the trigger.

I got my last camera through Costco. Same camera as the big guys offer, less expensive, and with a better kit lens.
I saw a cheaper price for a flash on a site that I wasn't quite sure about. I called my usual on-line place and asked the right question, and lo and behold they were having a sale on that very flash at that minute. I was thrilled! It doesn't hurt to ask.
So far the camera stores in our area have never had what I was looking for in stock. How could they begin to stock even a fraction of what is available?

Thank you! I should not be shocked that you can't believe everything you read.

The TTL works whether it is bounced or diffused, since the camera is measuring the light that gets into the camera.

My husband bought me the YN560-III flash as a surprise for my birthday (I was looking at the Canon 600).
I used it to light up a dark room to take photos of an after school program Christmas concert. It did a great job. BUT, trying to quick take photos of fast moving kids after the concert was a headache and my photos are blurry, and I feel sick about it. I've been reading up on manual flash. Yikes!
But help me here. I keep reading that once you bounce your TTL flash (which is almost all of the time) the TTL doesn't work anyway, so you are no further ahead spending the money to get TTL. I'll keep studying but I appreciate the question being asked, and the wisdom sure to come.

Just make sure you buy the model that works with the Canon TTL system. NOT one of the 'manual only' models.

Well, if you ever go on you DREAM trip to Alaska I can tell you how to order a battery and charger, calculate what stop you are most likely to be at when the thing gets delivered, how pray HARD that you are right, grovel about how sorry you are to do this AGAIN to your spouse, and tell you the shipping cost to remote Alaska… I added the charger to my collection. A mere walk in the woods? All I can say is "Amateur!" :)

It's a beautiful winter day. We have about 2 feet of fresh snow, snow on the trees, good, but not ideal, light, and warm temperature (-3 Celsius).

I went for a walk on a woodland trail and, about a 1/2 mile along, realized that my battery was almost dead!

Guess where my spare battery was. No, I'll make it easier. Guess where my spare battery wasn't.

If there was no one near, could my cursing be heard?

Kinda interesting this whole issue. I realize that in today's world the values I was raised with are considered outdated, but they actually work.

I can say this; if I were going to make an apology, it would be made without condition or an attempt at explanation.

If I were in management, and I'd made a decision that would be it, discussion ended. If ya can't deal with it pack your bags. This issue reminds me of that wide open forum that is here in which anyone who disagrees is openly called an idiot at best.

Catering to this behavior indicates to me that your willing to swim in the cesspool with the OP that this is all about.

People often ask where an older member is, and why they have stopped sharing their thoughts; threads like this and the original it stemmed from are the cause.

As to "fair use" this particular site is not an accredited educational site, as are almost all on the web; therefore "fair use" does not apply.

Let's grow up people, this has become worse than a bunch of teenage girls arguing over a boy!

I never met a teenaged girl that acted like this bunch. If anyone is interested in starting a website where people talk about photography, and big egos are checked at the keyboard, please let me know. I can't take this fighting.

People don't print their photos anymore so I've been creating a "year in review" book for my parent's. I get photos from other family members too, and try to make it creative and fun. They have everything else so if they don't like it I hope they never tell me. (Right Dad?)
I also scanned in 700 old slides and created a family book, starting with my grandparents dating. It took me 8 months, so that gift was a little late…(sorry again, Dad.)
Then I made a book for my sister, with her baby photos, birthdays, etc. I am glad I did not put off scanning in the slides, because the color was almost completely gone. In a few years we would have lost our childhood. Even if you scanned a few slides each year and created a book it would be a treasure.

You might want to check out the underwater point and shoot cameras. There's a bunch out there and they cost less then a housing for a dslr. The following link is an example of what's available.

I am jealous! I would love an expensive housing. I fell in love with underwater photography this summer using a $ 300.00 Nikon Coolpix AW110 Waterproof 16 MP 5x Optical Zoom Digital Camera. I took this in Michigan in murky lousy water from a moving boat.
